Amazing
I had low expectations of this game, I never found the idea of androids or robots taking over the world interesting until I played it :) really makes me wonder how it could all turn out should it ever happen!

Detroit Become Human is the latest game, and the first in the PS4 generation, for Quantum Dream. The game developer is well-known for their interactive movie-like games such as Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, and Indigo Prophecy (aka Fahrenheit). Most of these games contains QTE (Quick Time Events) which are flashing button symbols, telling you press this certain button asap or your game character will end up in grisly fate. Detroit Become Human is an improvement over the last two games. The QTE are there but nothing too panic-like. It feels more fluid, comparing to like yelling at a character in a movie for doing things you don't want them to do. The flowchart based on your decisions for the three characters are amazing. I love the idea of having different outcomes for each chapter, affecting the main storyline and for the other characters. This makes the replay value quite up there. Never play the same game twice! You also have the ability to change the chapter's outcome. Maybe you didn't like the whole chapter ended. You can replay the chapter and give the proper ending that you originally wanted. The story is pretty solid. Sometimes a little too "in-your-face" racism commentary (androids must stand at end of the bus, androids can't eat at a restaurant, etc..) Connor (detective) and Kara (a nanny becoming a protective mother) are my favourites, with the Connor storyline being my absolute favorite. Nothing wrong with Marcus. Maybe it's the whole "android revolution" storyline for Marcus when I'm expecting something different. The acting is superb! Every emotion is captured and display in the game. If there's one strong suit for this game, it's the acting. Everyone is pretty amazing here. The music is great, very movie-like quality. The cues are on point and suitable when it's there for the scene. Anyways, great game. Well worth the wait and definitely worth playing.

An interesting game. Great graphics and story. It's more a choose your own adventure/narrative steering game where you pick dialogue and reactions which guide the story between cutscenes and canoe dialogue. There are a few scenes where controls and timing reactions are more important but these are in the minority Every choice impacts the story outcome so it's interesting to play though scenes multiple times to see different permutations, dispositions, and choices influence outcomes. Adult themes and interesting metaphysical/ethical questions around android rights are touched on but never fully explored in any satisfying depth. More troublesome, the game makes an effort to be inclusive (gay characters, diverse characters) but the story is a heavy-handed analogy about oppression & racism which is clumsy at best, exploitative at worst using the real and plot-driven struggles as convenient dramatic devices rather than showing any genuine empathy or understanding towards the characters and their gender/culture. I suppose that this can even be debated shows that the game makes an attempt even if it falls short, but it's certainly not woke despite what the trailers would have you believe. The narrative, when successful, is immersive, but this title could have been so much more.
