Love this stuff. I'm not a big fan of exfoliators because I never feel like they do much, but I definitely feel like this one has helped keep my skin clear.The salt scrub is rough, just the way I like it, and gets sort of frothy when you add a little but of water. That being said, keep water out of the container. Take out small amounts (a little goes a long way if you're only washing your face) separately, and only get those parts wet. I use an old tub from a Lush scrub I'd gotten years ago, and sprinkle a nickel-sized amount in there, which I take into the shower with me.I can tell that it has oils in it too, because once you wash away the grimy salt, your skin's super slick with oil. It feels like a lot of oil (too much, even), but when you get out of the shower and dry naturally, the slickness goes away too. I have normal skin (not too oily, not too dry), but if I wet my face when I shower, it will feel pretty dry when I get out, so the oils left behind by the scrub help me out.I use this scrub on my face around twice a week when I get home from the gym and my face is all sweaty. I don't use it everyday.The charcoal does leave a sort of film sometimes, so rinse your face well, as well as the floor of your shower, or it may build up and leave dark sort of coloring, which isn't cute (but is cleanable).

I need an exfoliator since the skin on my face is pretty rough, and this is so far a great replacement to what i originally had that was discontinued. The only downside is the application of the product is difficult, but I found a quick little hack by pinching some of the scrub in my fingers and applying it to my face like that. Some of the product does fall off as you scrub it in, but the remainder still gets the job done.First application, I can tell it is a rough product. You really feel the charcoal bits and salts rub your skin, just make sure you're not rubbing hard enough to scratch yourself. The roughness of the product was immediately replaced by a smoothing lotion-like feeling. Once I washed it off my face I couldn't stop touching my skin it felt so smooth. And I noticed my skin was not red like it usually is stepping out of the shower. I don't see an immediate decrease in pore size like other reviews have stated, but again this is only my first day using it.I'm going to be using the product three times a week, and I'll keep updating this review with anything notable.Update:One week in at this point. Haven't noticed poor minimization which was a big selling point for me, but what I have noticed was a zit developing on my chin that significantly decreased in size after using this product on it. Skin feels pretty smooth still. I'm diggin it so far!

This scrub is very messy but perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. I bought it for my daughter's acne-prone skin and blackheads on her chin. It spills everywhere when scooping it out of the jar and it leaves stains on white sinks/tubs that need to be cleaned afterwards. This definitely has to be used in the shower because it gets all over the countertop/sink area. My daughter complained that it burned her skin but she's very sensitive. I tried it and it was okay. I think next time I'll order a charcoal MASK instead.Update: The company contacted me about this product and was willing to go above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. As I mentioned in the above review, I think the product is messy but the quality of the ingredients is fine and perhaps I had a different idea of what I was getting. That is certainly not Brookyn Botany's fault. But they were very attentive to the situation and I wholeheartedly appreciate that. I will look at their other items and give them another try just because of the excellent customer service. (I am changing my review to 4 stars for wonderful communication)

I’m not going to tell you this product is the best and that you should choose this over anything else since I haven’t actually tried too many of these products before. I tried out this charcoal scrub to reduce blackheads on my face. I have been using this product for about a week now. There haven’t been too many drastic changes, but it has reduced my blackheads a little bit. It has made my face very soft and smooth which is a plus. Also, my face is kind of splotchy, meaning that it’s not all one color. I have a lot of red on my face. It has made my skin tone a little more even… not a lot more even, but just a little bit. Like I said before, I have only been using this product for about a week. So just imagine how it will affect me in a few weeks.The scrub itself is pretty easy to use. You just dampen your face (or whatever part of your body you are putting it on) and then scrub this on in a circular motion. What I like about this is it doesn’t have a bad smell to it. It smells salty and natural. It doesn’t feel like you’re putting a bunch of chemicals on your body. If you decide to use this product, you will see some sort of difference with your skin.
