Milescraft 1/4" Plug Cutter produces tapered plugs from the same stock for superior grain matching or for removing small blemishes. Includes a bit for drilling scrap project material to produce tapered plugs to cover screws or hide blemishes. By using the same sprecies wood, fasteners virtually disappear or use contrasting material to create a unique visual effect. Review: Works Great! - I used the plug cutter to cut plugs from purpleheart wood which is a very hard and dense wood. The plugs cut clean and with their taper fit well into 1/4" holes. Review: Good product - I used this cutter several times and it worked fine! I recommend this cutter!

cuts plugs
The cutter worked ok if you fuss with it a little. You have to push each plug out from the bottom. This could be a pain if you have to make a lot of them. I also sharpened the cutters a little, as they are crudely finished. I gave it 4 stars for the low price, as others are twice as much. If you only need to use it every now and then its great.

Not for hard wood
Worked as I needed it to on acetelated pine decking but it would never work on anything harder than that. Oak? Maybe if you go really slow. Ipe? Forget about it.

Good useful tool for less than $5.
I bought this plug cutter not for use on wood but on PVC. I installed some PVC trim on my house and I wanted to hide the mounting screw holes. I took a small sheet of 1/4-inch thick PVC and punched out dozens of plugs that were each conveniently ejected as I started the next one. I cleaned each recessed screw-hole with a 9/32-inch bit and used ordinary PVC pipe cement to glue in each plug. After a bit of sanding you couldn't find the screws. A friend was so impressed he ordered one. One day I might try it on wood.

Waste of time and money
As a professional finisher carpenter and woodworker. I have used my fair share of tools. I've tried a couple products by this company and they all seem to be poor quality. -these plugs dont fit in 1/4" holes. They are too big - plug cutter is already dull after about 10 plugs. -plug cutter gets stuck about 1/2" into wood. It then snaps the wood and is stuck in the bit. - plugs are very rough and the face if them is chipped/raggedy. I tried using this on old growth Douglas fir lumber to plug some trim head screws. In comparison my plug cutters from Home Depot (general tools) have lasted for years and cut hundreds of plugs in many kinds of wood. The set didnt have 1/4 so I thought I'd buy this one. Spend the extra $ and get a better brand, this one is a waste of time and money

good tool. works fine
I bought this to use on Cedar which is quite delicate. I'm not a carpenter but it worked just fine. Not every plug I cut was perfect or usable but I managed to cut all the plugs I needed. This was probably due to the delicate nature of cedar wood and my lack of experience

Makes really good plugs in soft wood.
Product works really well on drill press. And fairly good in drill in soft wood. Would need to use in drill press to cut hard wood plugs.
