Why Get Potpourri If No Scent??

I have a medium-size decorative bowl that has been sitting empty because I'm not going to any stores. So I finally looked for a vanilla scented potpourri on Amazon to fill the bowl and add a little smelling joy to my home. I put it in the bowl this morning, and just now when I walked by, I noticed that the room did not seem to have a vanilla scent. So I picked up the bowl, put my nose right in it, and then - only then - could I SORT OF detect a scent. It was ok-smelling, not great, but this wasn't super expensive. BUT I LITERALLY COULD NOT SMELL ANYTHING UNTIL I GOT TWO INCHES FROM THE PRODUCT.
