Updated after several months use because today...
Update 5/23/2024 - as is our norm for this time of year, the water table rose enough that it began leaking into our basement. I'd placed one of the units near our troublesome west wall where it'd most likely to have issues. I was upstairs watching television when i heard it going off. I sprinted downstairs where i found water had just barely reached the unit. My older detectors would keep going off until the contact points were dry. These detectors stop sounding as soon as you pick them up as the design is different. A little thing but i prefer that aspect as opposed to the other type with metal prongs. I also was impressed by the tone and volume of these detectors. If i can hear it on the top floor while listening to a television then you won't miss the alarm wherever you are, assumingyou have a 'normal' sized home. These have the best design compared to the other units i tried out last year. All said for the money i couldn't be happier. , due to snow melting off the mountains that surround us, our sump pump runs nonstop from may through august every year. occasionally for a host of reasons the basement still gets water intrusion. when that happens I have to act quickly or a minor issue becomes a major job. that's why we rely on water 'detectors.' the ones we used the last two years were okay at first but then starting going off randomly and for no apparent reason. made worse as those were difficult to snap/pry open to stop them going off. I was very surprised and happy to find these detectors aren't a pain to open and shut. thankfully they made these with a screw on/off top! that one unique difference was much appreciated at my end. inside each was a nine volt battery. the only negative, and a minor one at that, was snapping the battery onto the connectors. it takes more force to do so than expected but that's it. on the bottom are two small protruding pin shaped bits of metal. water conducts electricity. so when you've got water on the floor, water allows current between those two and the alarm goes off. you can easily test it by touching both pins with your fingers. the alarm should then go off and you know with certainty you're good to go. FYI no worries in regards to testing like this. you cannot feel anything whatsoever when testing this way. I just find it to be a quick and effective is all. after the battery is in place and the two halves are screwed back together it's ready for use. place it wherever you want to be forewarned about water intrusion and that's it. I like these better than any we've used over the years simply because of the screw on design. granted it's early in the season but they've already gone off once. that's expected since i turn the sump off over winter and use these to know when it's time to power it up again. so, so far so good!

MUST HAVE For Every HomeOwner!
I put these at my mom's house under every fixture and just as I was about to leave one day (months later), the alarm went off. It sounded like a smoke detector and I was able to stop the leak before I left and saved her thousands of dollars in repairs! Worth Every Penny!

Leak detectors work, but alarm is severely muffled if top half is misaligned
I have no issues with the leak detection itself, but the design of these detectors is not good. Each consist of two halves, where the top cover screws into the bottom body. However, with the battery installed, the hole for the alarm speaker on the top cover (round hole) when fully screwed in, does not line up with the actual alarm speaker on the bottom body - the opening is ~180 degrees off! The result if there is a leak is the an extremely muffled alarm. If aligned the alarm is very loud, otherwise it will not be heard if located on another floor. So the top cover have to be unscrewed so they line up. But when the top cover and body are not fully screwed in, I'm sure the unit is not water tight. Update 3-3-25: The installation of the 9v battery affects the cover hole alignment to the speaker alarm. Added one star as the two halves can be screwed together with the speaker/alarm aligned by rotating battery and connector 180deg.

Simple and effective
I needed something simple to detect if water was overflowing from our filter. This is nice and loud and simple to use.

Works as supposed
I bought 4 in January which are still working and another 4 yesterday, my whole house is covered now. The 1st 4 I bought detected 2 leaks on 2 different units. They are loud, just make sure the hole on the cover sits on top of the speaker. I always test them before using them by holding the middle metal pin and each of the side pin with my fingers. The only con I see is that there is nothing to alert you if the battery is dying. You’ll have to check them manually every few months.

Work well
I have had these under my sink since 2018. I just checked the batteries to make sure they worked. They were all working. suddenly the other night I heard this loud beeping coming from under my kitchen sink and it took me a little bit to realize what it was as this was the first time they were needed. Once I realized what the noise was I found an active leak under my kitchen sink that would’ve turned into a disaster if I had not caught it Well, worth the money. I have one under all my sinks and under my two toilets.

Not as loud as I want.
It works, but only if it were louder. It's already loud, but if my basement floods in my sleep I want to get the hell up as soon as I can. I intended to only use one of these and give the other to a neighbor. End up putting the two right next to each other to "increase" the volume when they touch water. If you don't screw on the cover all the way, it's louder. The cover is muffling the noise. So I screw it just enough that its closed and its at max volume.

After hearing of a resident who ignored a thump in the night and woke up to ankle deep water because his kitchen sink fell and ripped off a water line with 15000$ damage to flooring , we decided to take that as a hint. Get alarmed. Subsequently our friend's BIL told us of these inexpensive floor moisture sensors. We bought a package of ten. Every water supply has one and we are resting a bit easier. Do they work? YES. I put one into the second bathroom sink cupboard, onto a stain on the cupboard floor. Shriek. 100 decibels. The stain was leaked something. I picked it up. Shriek. 100 decibels again as I had put it on the palm of my hand and the moisture there set off the alarm. Inexpensive, unobtrusive and very effective. No home should be without them.
