We've had two power outages since my purchase. I have two of the 60 watt equivalent soft white bulbs in free-standing lamps. Within 1 second of the lights going out ( both lamps were in use) the light came back on. The one upstairs was shut off after about an hour. I read by the one downstairs for over 4 hours before it went out.If I were to suggest an improvement, it would be to allow a 5- 10 minute fade period, so as to allow retrieval of a flashlight. Also, it would be great if the bulbs could be made to be used in enclosed fixtures such as globes. Otherwise I am well pleased with my purchase.I live in an area on the west coast which was declared a federal disaster area due to a powerful sequence of storms. With the rain and wind and land slides came many outages. Our power was out for the equivalent of roughly 25 full days out of about 50. These bulbs gave us a sense of security especially during night outages. As projections seem to indicate that the future holds more of the same sort of weather we will be making energy storage and production changes, and will be buying more of these bulbs.

The Safelumin light bulb is a great safety tool that we highly recommend for any home. When the power goes out due to public utility outages (storms, fires, etc.) the Safelumin light immediately lights up using its battery power. We have one next to bed for possible night time emergencies. We had Safelumin for a year or two before using the back up battery. Then... we had a neighborhood emergency and our power died early morning. True to claim, Safelumin lit up quickly! We were able to use its light and be comforted by the ability to move about our home safely. We have given these bulbs as gifts to our adult children and highly recommend them. Light bulbs have been around so long they are boring. This lamp impressed us with so many well thought out design elements:- Separating the LED from the battery with an air gap to extend life;- It is the same size as a regular A19 light bulb- Once you have powered it up in a socket to take it out of shipping mode, it can be used as a portable flashlight with a press of the button;- The battery is replaceable (SafeLumin BPIR18350, 3.7V 850mAh)- Battery level can be determined by holding the buttonThe packaging is confusing, it is likely lawyers were involved:- The package says 'battery is not user serviceable', yet their website accurately states "Replaceable battery. Simply by removing a single screw, the SafeLumin battery can be changed within minutes".The package says "Not for emergency lighting", yet their website makes the case that these are intended for emergency lighting and calls them "Emergency LED Bulbs". Why else would you use these?The identity crisis with the packaging and the higher than seems reasonable cost are why we took a star off. We would use more of these if SafeLumin worked on getting the cost down.

Safelumin bulbs are an innovative, high-quality product. They charge automatically during normal use and continue to work like a normal light bulb even when the power goes out. Unlike similar products I've seen, these fit in standard lamps and fixtures since they are the same size as a standard household light bulb. A test button allows you to check that the built-in batteries are working and are fully-charged. After trying them myself, I purchased these as gift for my elderly parents who live in Florida and have storms and power outages during the Summer and hurricane season. As a safety measure, my parents plan to install them in their bedroom and bathroom to prevent slips or falls when the power goes out during the night.

This LED emergency light is awesome. I used to run for my candles and flashlights whenever there would be a power cut, hitting chairs, furniture and whatnot in the process. Not to mention those were certainly not great alternatives to an actual light bulb.Well Safelumin emergency light bulb is.I didn't have a power cut yet since I have it but I kind of want to lol. It is good to know you have this product at your disposal guaranteeing bright backup light for three hours.This is a high quality product that can be used under any circumstance, not just power outages. While I wait for the next one, I use it in my kitchen, it does last 3+ hours and is actually brighter than my current regular bulb!

Received Safelumin bulbs earlier today. Seemed to work well as a regular light when powered, experienced blackout, the light is not that bright and warm as when powered. However, after 3 hours after installation 1 bulb had a crack sound, and never switched on again, not responding anymore to any manipulation. After the incident the second bulb in the same switch doesn’t respond and cannot be turned off. I leave in Ukraine, and had a high expectation of this product, it’s disappointing it didn’t work for me.

We have 2 old outlet power outage lights in the hallways to get around when the electricity goes out a night.But we never had outage lights that would work in the darkest rooms at night when the power goes out. Those rooms are the bath room and walk-in closets.But now with Safelumin LED bulbs those dark rooms can have light when needed. Even when the power is out. I'm using one in the bathroom vanity. It looks a bit odd against the other globe led bulbs. But you get used to it. If Safelumin ever make a globe led emergency light bulb. I'll be one the first to purchase one for sure.
