I Don't Want to Eat Bugs

Soooooooooooooo funny!!!
This quickly became a bedtime favorite for my 5 year old. I try to be as animated as possible while reading to help pique her interest in books, so with each character I use a different voice to read their dialogue. Lisbon has to wait for dinner, and the neighborhood animals are so sweet as to offer her a bite of THEIR dinner. Our favorite part is Rocky the dog, I use a deep happy sounding, scruffy voice to bring his character life. "What we need is a hedgehog!" This book has us laughing and giggling together before we have lights out, so glad I stumbled across this book!

~~Illustrations are excellent...as is the text~~
The author states that this book is for ages 2 to 7 and grades P to 3.The first thing I noticed was how excellent the illustrations are throughout this book. I love it when they are bright and colorful as I think they help to hold the attention of the little ones.In addition to the illustrations, Lisbon, the little girl, is hungry. Not time for the meal at her home so she goes in search of food. Little did she realize when she started her trek, but although the animals tried....she really didn't like their offerings! Bugs, a mouse, and some dog good from Rocky (looks like my dog...) .At least the animals were trying to share although Lisbon did not like their offerings... She finally went home and dinner was ready....chicken, rice, salad and even some ice cream for dessert. At the end of the book there is an activity page for the little ones. Always like those for the children as they get to go back through the book and see if they are able to find the items. Most highly recommended.

children's book
Lisbon tummy was making all kinds of racket.Mom assured her dinner was almost ready/Mom suggested Lisbon go outside & play & she would call her when it was ready.A bird up in the tree offered her something to eat.The black bug was not her thing.Cupcake (cat) dove into a bush & offered Lisbon a mouse.Rocky the neighbor’s dog offered to catch Lisbon a hedgehog.Better yet brown crunchy nuggets from the dog bowl. She met Jordan (BMF) on the way home. What did he suggest?I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very well written children’s adventure story book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s adventure movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free author; White Star Press; 1 edition; BookSends; Amazon Digital Services LLC.; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Cute Story, Charming Ilustrations!
I Don’t Want to Eat Bugs is a cute book about a little girl, named Lisbon, who is so hungry she doesn’t want to wait for dinner.Lisbon goes on a fun adventure looking for food when she encounters several animals that offer to share their yummy food, except yuck, it is not yummy! The animals offer a wide variety of different foods they like, from bugs to dog food, but, of course, Lisbon isn’t interested! The story is an effective way for children to learn about animals’ food and an appreciation for their own food. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and they are creative enough to capture a child’s imagination. The characters are charming and fit the story perfectly, too. I love her little stuffed frog! One very subtle lesson is the importance of sharing, even if it is bugs!!I Don’t Want to Eat Bugs is a great book to read to young children who are not yet able to read and also for those who have learned or are learning to read. This entertaining book is currently free on Amazon. (Not an affiliate.) As always, be sure to check the price before purchasing, in case there are changes in pricing.

So Fun
Oh my what a cute and fun book to read. I loved the art work from Tim Petersen and the story that was so short but so fun by Rachel Branton it is for young and old alike. It will bring you back to the days when you played outside and came across all kinds of bugs, which if like me was dared to eat one or two...knowing that hungry feeling as a kid waiting to be called for dinner was on point... I recommend this to ALL so fun to enjoy with your kids, grandkids and adults as well... I have with my grandson... A book to read and reread from now on….. Gina Clabo (go get this I just got book two)….

Beautifully Illustrated and Well Formatted for the Kindle Screen Picture Book
Really well formatted picture book for the Kindle screen. The page takes up the entire screen (in portrait mode, it doesn't display horizontally). The pages are full of colour and the text appears on the page with the illustrations, like a regular page in a physical picture book. There's a lot of great self published picture book stories out there, but a lot of them display like a mess, which let down the overall reading experience. So I always like to point out when authors care enough about their readers (customers) and have taken the time to format their books.Basically the story is about a girl called Lisbon who is hungry. But dinner isn't ready yet, so her mum sends her outside. A bird is the first of many animals to offer her something to ease the hunger pains. Lisbon isn't thrilled with any of the offerings, often letting the meal get away and leaving the offerer, a bit annoyed.

Love it!
That was cute!! Lisbon's hungry, but she definitely doesn't want to eat what her animal friends eat (sounds right to me), but her friends don't understand why not! :D There's adorable illustrations and an activity at the end in this book!Recommended for young readers!

Short bit very sweet.
I got this as a free ebook but hadn't looked at it since. I remembered it yesterday when my son had a nightmare and we needed something short and sweet to distract him from his bad dreams. This fit the bill perfectly. The illustrations are eye catching and my son loved them. The story is charmingly nonsensical but relatable at the same time (especially to any hungry child who has had to wait for dinner). The story itself was quite short but overall, very sweet and my son went back to sleep with a smile on his face.

A sweet story, beautifully illustrated, that gave big ice cream cravings!
This children's book, beautifully illustrated by Tim Petersen, is the first book in the Lisbon's Misadventures series. A sweet and funny story, the pictures really enhance it. And I loved the hide and seek game at the end too. Highly recommended reading for young readers.. though be prepared for ice cream cravings!

Good little story
Nice little story which runs along telling the child the difference in food preferred by different animals.Gives the teller a chance to impart a bit of fun. Not too sure about the art work.
