I love that this does not have any artificial sweeteners because ...
I bought this product to try out as an alternative to whey protein powders. I normally use ON gold standard whey protein powder in double rich chocolate. I didn't see this product in chocolate but noticed that this has a natural vanilla flavor so i figured, why not... I can add cocoa powder if I really want to.The Jarrow formulas Iso-Rich Soy has 25 grams of protein in two tablespoons. I love that this does not have any artificial sweeteners because I really can't handle the flavor of artificial sweeteners. Thery are too sweet and a little filmy or something. I feel like I can't get them out of my mouth.Over all, the taste is great but the texture is a little off. Being used to the ON whey product that is so smoothe when blended that you can't even tell it was a powder to begin with, I was a little surprised at the powdery texture even when blended with coconut milk and strawberries. However, this is one of the few soy protein powders I have found that has no sweeteners added and no whey/milk products in it, so I will likely keep trying it out. I was looking to switch to soy because my body processes it much more easily and because I've been doing a lot of research on phyto-estrogens which suggests that soy can be a good thing to have in your diet to balance estrogens or even work to protect against breast cancer. Don't take my word on that, though. I'm not a doctor and most studies that show protective factors against breast cancer show differences in prevalence in cultures who eat more soy in general, so there could be genetic factors also. So, I'm trying this product out for a while but also abiding by the label that says no more than 2 servings per day!Over all, a good, clean product with 25 grams of protein per serving and a pleasant taste. Just need to try a few blends out to see what i can do about the texture!

Pretty good!
It's a very strong soy powder. Heads up there. Mixes clean and easy in hot or cold water, which is what I do. Then add some syrup, mix again, then add more milk or water.I switched to this after GNC discontinued their soy protein 95 in favor of repackaging it in smaller containers, with a new label, for more money. Lose/lose all around, no matter the clever attempt at renaming it -- it was the exact same nutritional formula. So it went from a 4 or 5 pound tub for $40 (less still after markdown) to a 2 pound tub for $50.But the only downside, (and we argue whether it's a big one or a little one in light of the price and quantity and even quality) is that it might taste strange even after sweeteners are added. There can be an aftertaste that's...it's not pleasant. One friend of mine pointed out that maybe this means it's a high quality, genuine-artifact soy protein and that, once again, GNC was screwing us over with a product that doesn't have the promises it advertised. (We hear it happens a lot -- loads of snake-oil over there). But we don't know for sure, but as another friend put it, (and I regretfully agree), is that there's sort of an aftertaste of what can only be described as "morning breath." Bottled in a mixed beverage. Almost like magic, if you could ever want that. After the first gulp, you can adapt, and it gets easier and you get used to it once you know to expect it. But heads up; when it's in there, you know it. You've been warned. Again, this may just mean that it's the real deal; no punches pulled; something something "Isoflavones" something something. In which case, I'll take it. I can deal, and if anything I'd be more upset then about the tame, pleasant taste of the GNC stuff, and what that means for our health.

Happy to have found this!
I have been using Jarrow Iso-rich Soy protein everyday for almost a month, and am very pleased with it. I add it to a fruit and soy milk smoothie in the morning for an easy protein boost to my diet. Getting additional protein, especially in the morning, recommended for people who have ADHD. I also have a terrible time in the morning feeling hungry again and battling low/fluctuating blood sugar by the time I get to work an less than 2 hours after breakfast, and having the extra protein first thing has eliminated that issue. The downside is it's well....*morning*...and that last thing I want to do is conjure out anything more elaborate than a bowl of cereal. Tossing a tablespoon of powder into a blender is just my speed. I like that this bottle is a generous 32 ounces, and will last me a month at 1 serving/day. When mixed well, it's not gritty or chalky, and it doesn't change the taste my the beverages (smoothies, chocolate soy milk, lactose-free deliciously thick New England frappes).Fair warning - when I first started using this, my body was not used to that amount of soy or protein and it responded by manufacturing copious amounts of noxious gas. I tossed a pro-biotic into my smoothie mix, and problem solved. My digestive system has since adjusted. If you find yourself in the same boat, I recommended adding a pro-biotic at the same time and/or trying Beano or reducing the amount you use and then slowly as you system adjusted to the added soy/protein.I have tried various soy protein powders found in various supermarkets, and have ended up discarding every one of them due to the taste of nasty overpowering even a thick fruit-filled smoothie. I was looking specifically for a product with a good amount of protein but not too much, and without any added sweeteners. My worst experiences have been with picking up products I thought were not sweetened or "all natural ingredients" only to find out they contained stevia, which is a taste and slimy texture I seem to be very sensitive to, and not in a good way. A lot of what is available in stores is either whey or a soy/whey mix. I am lactose intolerant, so between the flavorings, sweeteners, and whey I've been very frustrated. I am so happy to have finally found a soy protein powder I haven't wanted to toss out the window after the first use.
