My husband was looking for something to easily transport common files and projects between offices, as he commutes to a remote location 3 days a week. At first he thought it was too large, but now loves it, as it has plenty of capacity for files and small binders, as well as a spot for pens, binder clips, etc. in the lid. It holds a lot, latches very securely, with a comfortable handle and still looks new after months of heavy use. As a point of comparison, I had ordered a slightly smaller/more narrow version from another brand prior to this one, which arrived cracked, with flimsy, shattered plastic. This is VERY sturdy, not fragile or likely to crack. Have ordered other Iris products since, and they've all been great.

Ordered two to help contain my business docs and thank you cards. They both are light enough to stay portable, but sturdy enough to hold a tad more. Would definitely order again. TNote: the latch on the lid is designed to actually latch somewhat backwards from other things, so be aware. It will still make the signature sound as it latches, but it may come off when opening it. It reattaches easily, but that tells you the heavy-duty ness of the object. You hmget what you pay for.So I'd only open it on a surface, like a table, lest it should spill uot on you. But I'm happy, months into owning them.

The box feels very sturdy. The main compartment latch is difficult to open. It was purchased for a friend who has minimal hand strength and may not be able to open this file box. I did use too much force causing the latch to pop off. Fortunately it did not break. This is a concern with regards to how long the latch will last. I am going to open it daily for a week before giving it to her hoping that it will loosen the hinge.

Exactly as described. It is plastic and suspect the latch will be subject to breakage but for the cost it is perfect!

These arrived as advertised and will be perfect for the organizing of files and paperwork. I would definetly buy again. They are sturdy, close beautifully and I am looking forward to having 4 eye appealing file boxes on my shelf.

Good size but cheap quality. Laching quality is not strong. Hard to open latch and afraid it will break if pull to hard.

Easy, ready to use right out of the box! Ordered Friday night after 10PM, arrived Sunday morning by 9AM (free Prime shipping). Needed a quick solution late Friday night to organize paperwork to prep for my accountant to file my taxes. So I ran to Office Depot. Picked up this same exact box for $17 for one. But, I needed 1 or 2 more. This Amazon offer from IRIS makes it $6.14 each at $24.56 for the 4-pack. Fantastic and best value! Saved over 60%, can't beat it and the quality is GOOD for what you are buying! At first I thought...can I use 4...absolutely yes! I read all of the other reviews before buying. Based on reading the product description it sounded like the same one I had just gotten at Office Depot so I knew the quality and wanted to give it a try. Plus one person falsely stated you do not get 4 in the pack and I wanted to confirm for myself. Each holds about 20 hanging files , filled with paper and envelopes...with room left in some cases (based on me alphabetizing the paperwork). Can hold a lot but paper is heavy, so depending on how much you have in and how bulky your paperwork is (some of mine are very bulky), you may need to hold the bottom when you pick it up by the handle. GREAT, portable, mobile solution...from home office to car...to breakfast bar while I eat, work on laptop, and work through paperwork...to bedroom bed while propped up watching the NFL hype for today!!! Top section to hold pens and supplies is very convenient. Stackable. Need 3 for taxes. 4th one can be used for other household/office stuff. GREAT value-add...has small lid and base connecting loop holes to put small lock on, or you can use a small cable and put a bigger lock on. Only wish? I wish it came in a lighter color, granite, to better match my office furniture and decor. Black is such a sharp contrast, but it will work for my purposes and I can store them out of site when done. My car is black...so "hey"...a small win there! Lol. Amazon never disappoints! It is my "go to" for tons of solutions...especially quick ones!!! UPDATE 2/6/19 Bought Anvil 6 pack locks and they fit perfectly. Preferred the ones not on the cable. Bonus...TSA approved...solid locking with easy combination lock. Great for when mobile file box is in my car. Can use on luggage when traveling.

I had to return this product for just one reason. It was difficult for me to open. I know that sounds silly, but if I am going to have to open and close this item frequently, I want it to be smooth and easy. It may have been that the plastic was a little cold from travel? But the location I planned to place it would be cold sometimes (garage) - so that could be a problem for me. I read a lot of different reviews both positive and negative, and wasn't sure if this product would work for me since some claimed it was not very sturdy. My conclusion is that if you need something inexpensive that you don't have to open frequently - this could work great. It is just "sturdy enough". I would not call it flimsy at all. But I would also not call it heavy duty - it is someplace in between. But if you want something for frequent use, it may not be optimal. Here's what was good about this product: it was fairly sturdy, the hinge might possibly be a little flimsy, but I did not get to test this over time since I sent it right back. The small storage area on top seemed to work fine and opened and closed fine (but I actually wasn't planning on using that part). I did test if files hung inside ok, and that was great - they fit perfectly. Here's what I felt was not as well done: The main latch did not open in an intuitive way for me as it opened in the opposite way I was expecting. It opens down. I actually was afraid I was going to break it and then noticed that there were small bumps on the bottom/side edges indicating a hinge. Once I knew to pull down, it opened, but not without some struggle. If you have a weak grip this could be a problem. Also, I planned to have it on the ground in the location where I was going to use it and would have to lean down to open it and place items inside. This made the difficulty opening it more problematic. The leverage was all wrong - at least for me. The unit also does not have the right balance. When empty and the top is opened fully it very nearly tips over backwards - but not quite. Once lots of files are in, I am sure this would not be a problem, however, but if you don't plan to keep it very full this instability might be annoying, as it might be prone to getting accidentally knocked over if it was sitting open. I was disappointed this could not work for me, but would be willing to try a newer version of this product if they made the latch more user friendly.

I use these for locking away text files at home. They're very practical and have a place that will take very inexpensive locks
