WITH A FOREWORD BY TIM HARFORD See the world anew with this unique and beautifully designed infographic atlas Which nations have North Korean embassies? Which region has the highest number of death metal bands per capita? How many countries have bigger economies than California? Who drives on the 'wrong' side of the road? And where can you find lions in the wild? Revelatory, thought-provoking and fun, Brilliant Maps is a unique atlas of culture, history, politics and miscellanea, compiled by the editor of the iconic Brilliant Maps website. As visually arresting as Information is Beautiful and as full of surprising facts and figures as any encyclopaedia, Brilliant Maps is a stunning piece of cartography that maps our curious and varied planet. For graphic design enthusiasts, compulsive Wikipedia readers and those looking for the sort of gift they buy for someone else and wind up keeping for themselves, this book will change the way you see the world and your place in it. 'Thoughtful, fun and beautifully illustrated guide to our constantly surprising planet... terrifically interesting stuff' Big Issue Review: This Book of Maps is Weirdly Addictive - I picked up this book recently and honestly, it’s one of the most interesting things I’ve read in ages. Brilliant Maps is exactly what it says on the tin – full of maps, but not your usual geography textbook stuff. These maps make you see the world completely differently. There are 100 of them, and they cover all sorts – from countries that don’t have rivers, to places where you won’t find a McDonald’s, and even maps about North Korean embassies. Some are funny, some are quite deep, but all of them made me stop and think. It’s the kind of book you can dip into any time, and it’s perfect for flicking through with a cup of tea. A few of the maps do go across two pages, which is a tiny bit annoying, but that’s me being picky. Overall, it’s a brilliant conversation starter – great for classrooms, coffee tables, or anyone who loves random facts and seeing the world in new ways. Highly recommend it if you like quirky, clever stuff that makes you think! Review: Interesting and engaging coffee table book - A great book well priced. It has lots of interesting maps about anything from immigration and languages to plug and socket map. A great talking point and a coffee table book that’s actually interesting and teaches you something.

Brilliant browsing
Bought as a Christmas gift for a boy of thirteen. All the family enjoyed looking at it.A range of fascinating maps, including some which are quite unexpected.

Quirky and informative
Fun and informative but the print is small. Bought for an elderly friend who is now an armchair traveller . Think he might struggle to read it without a magnifying glass.

Really easy to return
It’s a lovely book but the person I bought it for wouldn’t have appreciated it. It would have helped if I was able to have a look inside this book. I returned it via Royal Mail

Sehr informativ !!

Wonderful book - great service
So many fascinating maps. Among my favourites - the different names for the Christmas gift-bringer in Europe; the concentration of heavy metal bands per capita.

Interesting and fun information!
I love the maps, lots of interesting information and a great variety of info! Pity is the printing, some maps a difficult to read, as either the colours are too similar or smaller countries (like Europe) are exactly in the middle of the pages.
