Electro-Harmonix Bass Clone Bass Chorus Pedal

I am a bassist with over 25 years of experience who owns or has owned many chorus pedals. This one, in my opinion, is a big winner, especially for the price. first of all, it just sounds good. And, while I know some people hate this word, like most EXH pedals, to me it just has that "Mojo". It's capable of creating inspiring, musical effects at pretty much every setting, from subtle to drastic. I feel like you could practically leave this effect on all the time! Bass chorus vs standard chorus? What's the difference? When you plug a bass into a regular chorus pedal, you generally lose a lot of your low end frequencies, so using chorus is a trade off. With this pedal there is a X-over which, when engaged, lets the bass frequencies pass through the pedal unaffected by the chorus. So you get the sweet warbling chorus effect on your high frequencies, but your bass still has fat low end. Very cool. Additionally there are tone controls, so you can also fatten up your sound with the bass control, or add/remove high end sparkle with the high eq control. In general I would highly recommend this pedal. It's inexpensive, sounds great, and the build quality so far seems solid. I did a video demo review of the Bass Clone but amazon will not allow links. I specifically focused on demonstrating what the crossover does to the signal when engaged/disengaged, and went through and showed the range of parameters possible by twiddling the knobs. I think for the price you really can't go wrong with this. Sounds great on guitar too.

Solid effect, solid construction. Not super expensive, & a great way to get another sound out of your rig

These pedals are do a thing! I can't say the thing is incredible versatile but I love it none the less. It really does a nice job of maintaining the tonal integrity of your bass while adding a thick luxurious blanket of chorus. I've been mostly matching it up with my fretless and it's a perfect match. It sounds great no matter the setting and is super-easy to use. Like most EH stuff, it's very quiet when in and out of the chain and super-well built. And finally; for the price this bass chorus can't be beat...even if you add it to your already large collection of choruses! Enjoy.

While the sound of the device was fine, the engage/disengage button was so loud it makes it unusable during performance. Reached out to EHX support as return window had passed and the disappointing response was "Otherwise, that is the nature of the pedal. A silent switch is not able to be installed". Will be avoiding EHX pedals moving forward.

Well it's close, but no cigar. When engaged there is a very noticeable drop in the lower frequencies. The bass knob doesn't make up loss in the proper way. Instead of raising the output of the entire spectrum below the crossover, it just boosts around 60 Hz and it just doesn't sound good. Just makes it wooly. Another feature that would have been nice is the ability to adjust the crossover frequency. As far as the chorus effect it's just fine.

I've been hanging with this for about a month now. I gotta say it's really awesome. i just love to leave it on basically all the time. It never gets old, it can go from suttle clone chorus sound to warble town. The bass knob is completely insane. Never heard that much bass boost in any pedal. Essential if you want a post punk/new wave bass sound. Besides the actual small clone (which I use religiously on guitar) it is the best affordable and most usable pedal I have ever purchased

Das Teil ist, wie von EHx gewohnt, robust gebaut. Die Buchsen sind anfangs etwas stramm, aber nix, was stört. Es ist ziemlich einfach, einen für mich passenden Chorus-Sound hinzubekommen. Dabei geht sowohl subtil zu andicken als auch breit wabernd, wenn man das möchte. Mit aktiviertem Chrossover-Schalter geht nichts vom Bass-Fundament verloren, dann ist es aber auch zurückhaltender. Im Effekt Send/Return-Weg vom Bassamp wird's dann doppelt zurückgenommen, da muss man ausprobieren, was besser passt. Ansonsten bin ich ziemlich zufrieden mit dem Teil. Guter Sound, in den normalen Parametern rauscharm und bisher zuverlässig. Einzig der Fußschalter ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, da er recht viel Kraft braucht, um auszulösen und sich manchmal ganz leicht verkantet. Nichts, was ein beherzter Tritt nicht regelt, aber im Gegensatz zu allen meinen anderen Bodentretern, muss ich hierbei richtig drauflatschen, damit er sicher umschaltet, wo bei anderen ein leichter Taps reicht. Vielleicht baue ich ihn mal aus, um zu schauen, ob alles gerade läuft. Vielleicht gibt sich das aber auch mit der Zeit.

Io non sono rimasto molto colpito anche se devo dire che è di buona fattura, abbassa molto l'amplificatore del basso, anche se può essere che ho regolato male l'equilizzatore del amplificatore, io lo reso perché come detto questi tipi di suoni non mi ispirano, però rimane il fatto che è buono come pedalino anche il materiale non è fatto male, per chi sperimenta lo consiglio
