Stylish and well fitting clothing from your loom!
What a pleasant surprise when I opened this book! Fashion garments! The flowing jackets are fantastic! The top on the cover is not the only one that will have you drooling! The author covers the basics of what can be done on a 15 inch loom including a few tricks I had not come across before, so you have a thorough grounding in setting up your loom from choosing your yarns right the way through to hemming, seaming, and troubleshooting. This comes with links to Youtube videos and the author's own website so that those who work better with visual instructions are not left out, though the photography in this book is comprehensive and good.Since knitting and crochet are incorporated into the designs, there is a minimum of cutting and sewing of your precious handspun, and the garments fit gently without bulk, one of the problems that is usually associated with handwoven garments. The garments also drape beautifully, as its impossible to get an extremely tight tension on a rigid heddle loom. There are summer tops, tops with sleeves, jackets and vests with swing skirts and waterfall collars and a couple of very nice scarves. I noticed that Tamara also includes instructions for larger sizes on garments where they are fitted though most styles are not closely fitted and there is a good allowance for movement. I would suggest a wider loom for those of us who no longer possess our teen-age figures and adapt the patterns accordingly, though its easy enough to add a few extra rows of knitting or crochet at the sides, so this book is not limited to smaller sizes. It would not take much imagination to take the instructions here and apply them to similarly shaped garments that you see in the shops, as the pattern pieces are not complicated. A change of colour and a different style of yarn will produce a totally different look, so this book can be used as a jumping off point to create your own unique pieces. Since rigid heddle looms are quick and easy to set up, its not a difficult or lengthy process.Like all good things, this book will leave you wanting more, and I hope the author writes another book in a few years because it will take that long to start exhausting the possibilities in this one! If you are a friendly soul who lends your books out, make sure your name is engraved on the spine or written down the edges of the pages so you get it back! Its a keeper!

Bad book design makes content inaccessible
This is a really good example of how to violate universal principles of good book design rendering the content so difficult to access that I’m sending the book back. There is virtually no white space anywhere to give your eyes a rest on the page. So much shouts at the reader that you don’t know where to take your eyes next. On one page one category of text appears in gray boxes, on the very next page another category is set out differently. Text, photos and side bars completely fill the page leaving minimal borders even at the bound edge. The photos are all grainy, some in color, some as grayed out page backgrounds. Emphasis is an undisciplined excess of bolding, underlining, side bars and illogical font changes that scream “look here!”, “no, look here!”, “no look here!” that I simply found too exhausting to fight through.OK. Done ranting. Here’s the positive stuff. The author offers nice designs that are contemporary and would be fun to wear. She includes nice info on how to finish edges, seam pieces and pick up stitches for knitting along with bare bones info on weaving basics- look elsewhere for that. For the most part the summer tops are simple rectangles seamed at sides and shoulders, most with simple boatnecks. Some have knit panels at the sides picked up from the selvedge edges that give nice shaping to the top. Most are sleeveless or have dropped shoulder cap sleeves. One has knit on long sleeves. There are a couple of vests, a cape, a poncho and a kimono along with a cowl and a scarf. She includes a nice looking tote with three different handle versions. I agree with other comments that Amazon needs to show the garments. It is up to you to decide how much effort fighting through the bad book design these garments warrant

Appealing use of a small loom.
This is an interesting book with some good ideas for expanding the use of the 15" rigid heddle loom. It is perhaps better for those who do a fair amount of knitting as most of the patterns make use of knitting and crochet to make the woven parts fit. I have a Schacht Cricket that I love but I also purchased a 25" Flip and make garments on that without the need of knitting. For many folks this book will fill a need and add to their enjoyment of the 15" loom. The book is full of great pictures and many well written instructions.

Informative but comes up short
I'm a little disappointed in the book and while the designs are very nice the size range isn't I was not aware that all but one of the patterns would not fit when purchasing this book

Geared towards knitters moving to weaving
I've been weaving for many years using a floor loom. Been thinking about getting a RH loom for portability. She uses knitting terms like "gauge" rather than weaving terms like "sett". I've been finding her instructions hard to follow. I like her designs and I'm hoping to get over the terminology problem. Probably need to watch more videos on warping a RH loom. She does have a web site.

Not only are her designs wonderful and unique
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE BOOK !!! Having had Tammy come to my shop over the past several years to teach weaving, I can personally guarantee that both beginners and experienced weavers will benefit greatly when referencing her book. Not only are her designs wonderful and unique, her step by step instructions outline and clearly explain the techniques she has developed to create them for yourself. What more can I say - I'm a big fan - and can't wait for her next publication.

Excellent
I must admit when I first got my hands on this book I was skeptical- it looked self published (not that there is anything wrong with that). However this is one of the best weaving books I have gotten. I love that it is specific to 15" rigid heddle, many of the books are for floor looms or larger looms. Great instructions, pictures and patterns for stuff I would actually wear!

but it's a great step forward if you arw moving from weaving to ...
This gave me the confidence to cut into my weaving and sew a shirt. Not too many designs in here, but it's a great step forward if you arw moving from weaving to sewing your woven cloth. Some awesome information in the beginning about the whole process, too.
