Outstanding Urban Parka!
I live in Florida and I’m a wimp in the cold. After a trip to Tromso, Norway two winters ago I discovered that my outerwear was inadequate for cold temperatures, so before a December trip to Germany and Austria to tour the Christmas Markets this year, I invested in this jacket. Greatest decision ever! I am 5’10” and 195 pounds and size XL fit me perfect with room for a shirt and a base layer underneath. Everything is perfect - the pockets are well designed and easy to get into, the fabric repels rain well, and most of all, it was very comfortable in terms of temperature. Down to 30F I could easily wear this jacket with no base layer, just a regular shirt underneath. For below freezing temperatures I wore a light down vest over my shirt and below the jacket and I was snug and cozy and warm while walking around outside for hours. The zip-off faux fur lining on the hood was really good to have. Overall, I strongly recommend this jacket for your urban touring and travel needs. I just wish I would have had it when I visited Norway!

One design flaw and my fitting information for a wonderful jacket.
Never had a Helly-Hansen jacket in the past, so this Reine Parka is my first. Many reviews, so let me address some specific points. Sizing: I am 167 pounds, 5 foot 9 inches, and average build (not portly). I have slightly short arms, I wear a 40 Short suit jacket. Most of my Tee shirts are Large (never medium) and yet Amazon recommended Medium for me in this jacket; I reluctantly went with their suggestion. Voila...perfect fit! I dislike tight feeling jackets, and this one is not. I even have a down North Face puffy down vest I often wear and I wore it beneath this HH jacket in medium and it still fit fine, not too tight. It really fits me well at Medium. So, if you are my size, I'd suggest Medium. If you are not my size, at least you know the Amazon size recommendation seems accurate. Warmth: some reviews said it was not warm, and admittedly, when I took it out of the package it is modestly thin in "puffiness"...it doesn't feel bulked up like many of my past parkas. Fortunately, it is literally 0 degrees F in Chicago right now, so I wore the jacket with only a tee shirt and jeans outdoors and walked around for 10 minutes. I felt toasty as a mating gull, it was fine. My legs in jeans were cold, but my torso under this jacket was fine. I like that there is a flap over the YKK front zipper that provides outstanding wind relief, and the neck gusset cinched up nicely to protect my neck. I did not test the waterproof fabric in rain. Fur on hood is zipper detachable, looks real. Somewhat floppy over face if fully “snorkled” (could have used an internal wire for support), it’s fine when hood is up on head and fur is roller back to face. Pockets: Sweet large pockets, including for gloves, chest pocket for phone, and interior 6-inch mesh pockets on each side of items. Recommended, despite moderately high price. Looks sharp as it has a flattering cut, especially in black.

Great coat, but NEEDS a waist drawstring
It did a good job keeping me warm on my ski trip to the upper peninsula in Michigan where temperatures were below 0F. I was able to spend all day outside on the slopes. However, I made one modification, I wrapped a belt over the waist so that none of the heat leaked from my torso. The jacket has no internal drawstring which is a big drawback and I almost returned it because of that. Cold air can slide in from below, even when you're not moving. Luckily, a ten dollar stretchy belt saved me from having to buy a different coat altogether and it didn't look too crazy. Managed to remain very warm on the chairlift with some layers inside. I used a base layer, a sweater, a cheap puffy jacket, then this jacket. With that combo, I'm confident I could have slept in the weather I was in.

Pleased to find a great jacket that fits!
Very warm jacket, not bulky or heavy! Ample room to dress in extra layers! NW rain and wind is no problem with this coat!

Great Jacket, Runs Large!
Amazing Jacket, only thing to note is they run larger than you’d expect… I tried to exchange my large for a medium, however… in the end… medium was too tight in the chest… making reaching out or up feel awkward. The length of large compared to medium is about the same…. All in all, this was an awesome purchase!! I am extremely happy!!! For record, I’m 5’8” , 185lbs

What about the hooood
Four stars on this parka I’m going to loosely quote what I read in the reviews. Yes the hood is a floppy mess. This hood falls down over your eyes (don’t walk into a tree) it’s as if the hood was added as an afterthought. No engineering involved there. I guess you’re paying for the high tech materials. The parka does keep you warm and has plenty of pockets. The weight is good (quality materials) Also LOVE the zipper! It’s heavy duty easy to manipulate due its size.

Performed well...for about 1.5 months
For a $320 coat, I'm deeply disappointed. I really only have had to wear it for 6 weeks now. But the weather is changing in Wisconsin, and winter is finally here. I am a teacher and do traffic duty before and after school, and it gets very cold. I loved the hood because I could have it up and still have good peripheral vision, unlike my old parka. However, when I was trying to tighten up the hood a little, one of the pull cords snaped. Now, the hood cannot be tightened, and it greatly reduces the effectiveness and the best feature of the coat. Even if they replace or fix it, how long is that going to take? It's going to be in the single digits for highs next week...and I'm not going to have the coat I needed? That sucks. Lastly, when it does get really cold (I'd day 10 degrees or below) you need to wear a fleece under the coat. It's warm...but it's not elite coat warm. Update 11/23: Still a one star review. It was 10 degrees this morning and I had to change into a different coat as this one just doesn't have enough fill to keep you warm. It's ok for 30 degrees and above, but I wouldn't reccommend it for under 20 degrees.

HH Reine parka, impermeable y abriga migo 1,74m 80kg Talla M.

Good for colder weather
Bought at sale price. Nice and warm for chasing northern lights in Arctic Norway.

Great coat, I used it in -25 celsius, rain, snow and wind
Great coat, bought this for my trip to Chicago in winter. Kept me dry and very warm when it was -25 celsius and snowing. The coat is windproof. There's no real shape to the coat its very straight up and down. I found that the size came up very large so I had to come down a size and still had room if I wanted to put on a jumper underneath. I have an HH rain jacket that is a 2XL but I only needed a 1XL in this coat. The fluffy hood rim is easily removed as I wasn't really a fan of it. It has plenty of pockets, enough that you manage to forget which one you used. It also has pockets that are not visible if so can easily hide items like wallets and phones from the elements and thieves! The coat is fairly lightweight and folds down very easily.
