For context, I've owned these boots for a few months, and all of my hiking was done in the San Tan mountains of Arizona. The trails there are a mixture of hard-packed dirt, rocky sections, sand, and steep rocky inclines with loose sand and gravel (e.g. Goldmine Mountain). Grip: 5/5 At first, looking at the photos in the listing, I wasn't sure about the grip, but the boots have done well on rocky inclines as well as sections with loose sand and gravel. Ventilation/Cooling: Neutral. I hike in Arizona where temps are normally on the warmer side. I haven't really noticed a difference in this category in the different boots I have owned. No complaints. Durability: 4/5 Overall they are holding up well. I'm not concerned about stepping on jagged/spiked rocks as the boots seem to be fairly tough, and the sides and laces are solid. There is a small section where the sole is starting to separate as shown in the photo, which seems premature, but otherwise the boots have been solid. Weight: Neutral. The boots are light and durable at the same time. No complaints. I have been a dedicated Merrill Moab and Keen boot customer for many years but the $ are getting high and Merrill’s quality control is not always the best. The Skecher Relment- Pelmo boots appear to be a very good value. Overall quality is very good. Seams are accurately stitched and the overall cut and finish is very good. As with other Skechers, they have plenty of room in the toe box. Metal lace eyelets are well secured. Have had them in the snow briefly and they shed water like a duck. The arch and foot pads are sewn in. Arch support is marginal, however there is enough room to comfortably add a Dr Scholl’s arch support boot liner. This will improves the fit and makes the boots warmer.
