Just saved a ton of money by diagnosing check engine light myself.
The OBD2 reader came with a mini DVD, which included multiple programs and versions and languages. But from what I saw on-line, it wasn't required. So, I simply took the OBD2 reader to my car, plugged it in, started the car, and linked the reader to my phone via Bluetooth. It connected but did nothing. So, I remember seeing a video on-line that mentioned using the VLink app to diagnose codes. I searched the Google Play store for it and found other options and selected Car Scanner by OvZ. Downloaded the app, opened it, and selected my car make, model, and engine, and then connected to the OBD via Bluetooth and TA-DAAAA... connected. Ran the diagnostics and it produced an error code. So, I looked that up and found some corrective actions. Completed those. Turned the car off and back on, and used the Car Scanner app on my phone to delete the error codes on the OBD2, and the Check Engine Light went away! Hooray!!! Do you know how much time and money I just saved???Follow those steps and it should work just fine and save you money!1. With car off, plug in OBD2 reader.2. Turn on car and connect OBD2 reader to phone using Bluetooth. Code is 1234.3. Open car scanner app of your choice. (I used Car Scanner by OvZ)4. Run diagnostic scan, get codes.5. Look up codes and remedies on-line. Make fixes.6. Turn car off, then back on. OBD2 should re-connect with phone via Bluetooth.7. Clear error codes. Check Engine light should go out.Good luck!

Although it connected to my phone via Bluetooth, none of the apps would connect to it.
Although it connected to my phone via Bluetooth, none of the apps would connect to it. I bought a different OBD-II adapter and returned this one. The other adapter is vLinker BM+ and it worked with Torque, Bimmerlink and Car Scanner ELM OBD2 by OvZ (all three apps detected it and were functional with no hassle). Again, the cheap adapter was completely not working with these apps and I had to give up and return it

Worked well for me
I used it to diagnose an issue with a 2008 Mazda CX-7. Worked great, but pay attention to the communication settings if you're using Torque Lite. I needed to turn off the ELM protocol to get it to connect using my Android based phone. Once I disabled it, it connected instantly and read out my codes.I saw reviews stating it was poorly made, but the one I received was well packaged and (while made of plastic) the case was solid and the connector pins were straight. Unfortunately in my Mazda, the connector orientation is such that you can't actually see the indicator lights, but they are not really required unless you're having connection issues (see above).BTW, the Bluetooth passcode was 1234 for me.

It's actually really good.
So there are some mixed reviews, and I understand why. So connecting this device via Bluetooth is different than what most are used to. You have to find the device under "connect new device" of your Bluetooth, it's listed as OBDII. Then when you connect to it will ask for the code, which is 1234. It won't stay connected like a normal Bluetooth device. Instead, it will immediately become listed under "previously connected devices", that's what you want to see! Open your car scanner app and find the device to connect to. The device listings these apps show are a list of previously connected devices, see where I'm going with this? Find under the listing of devices and connect to OBDII, and you will be able to start using the device.I tried connecting to it like a conventional Bluetooth device and it kept going me a communication error, I see why now. Don't give up on this little device, it's definitely worth the money!

Great device. But requires 3rd party app
It was cheap, easy to use. Works amazing as long as your willing to buy / aquire a decent obd app

No instructions
Requires a app to use does not tell you what app that is so it is virtually useless . Could not find app that works with device no instructions or customer service

Works great with right app.
Being Bluetooth it has to be paired to an app to work. There are many apps out there, many of which are free. For live data my favorite is Torque {Light}, and for codes my favorite is Car Scanner.
