First, this is not star wars you can not just wave any digital thermometer at your forehead and expect good results. I have tested hundreds of these and each has its pros cons. This model will appear RED if it reads a temp over 100 - but you really need to know your average normal temperature to use any of these devices.The so called touch less models all have some big inaccuracy this one when i use it correctly was within -+.5 of what I know my average temp is.1)What is your normal temperatureIMPORTANT: Normal temperatureA person’s “normal” set temperature (when well) can vary from the next person, and this may skewresults if you have a particularly high or low one. The best method to determine your own normaltemperature is to use the thermometer when you are feeling well. Record your reading twice a day(early morning and late afternoon). Take the average of the two temperatures. This is consideredyour normal body temperature and should be compared against any reading givenJust don't expect any infrared to give you 100% accuracy - Hopefully in a few years the technology will catch up and we can get 100% accurate results - at this time this was the best in the market for what I could find available but looks like even this one is not available anymore.

I measured my temp orally, then with the BFH-125. The temp with the BFH-125 was 1.4F lower. The instructions indicate a forehead reading may vary depending on ambient. I'll make note and use that as an adjustment.I then tried it on my leg and wrist, they both read slightly lower, but reasonable. I tried a non-contact reading on the forehead (1 inch offset), the reading was identical to a contact reading. I put cold water in a cup and did a non-contact reading - Err, expected. I put lukewarm water in the cup, it read 100.1, I put a little more hot water in the cup, it read 103.1.None of this can be construed as "verifying absolute accuracy" but it does confirm the device appears to work as intended. The "plus" is that it also works "non-contact".It might also be worthwhile to note the if you do repeated reading on the same person at the same spot, the reading tends to go down by .2 with each read. That seems reasonable because the probe cools the area touched.

Bought one in a pinch during COVID19 after searching 5 stores and pharmacies ALL sold out of thermometers.This product works and I'm glad I was able to purchase with my FSA card. It comes with 2 AAA battteries. The thermometer is light, pretty easy to use and read. You just turn it on, place it on your forehead and click the "read" button amd in 3 seconds you have a temperature read. The screen also lights up either green, yellow or red to make it easy to figure out whether your temperature is at a safe number.I consistently received a 98.5 on my forehead after several readings. To test out if it worked and read higher temperatures (other reviews said it was faulty and would not read anything higher than 98.9). I read the temp of my forearm after resting it against my laptop (laptop runs hot) - the thermometer screen turned yellow and read a temperature of 100.3.. So it works! I think the other reviews received a faulty thermometer or maybe did not handle with care.

On Sunday, I received a post on my phone that our order had been delivered. I looked on our front porch and on the bench below our sun room. No package was in evidence. On Monday, when I picked up the morning paper, I found the package in our mailbox. I note now that my computer said the package was in the mailbox. But it is my understanding that a mailbox is just for mail delivered by the post office. As it turned out, the product was fine and works very well. But the door to the mailbox had dropped open, it was raining that morning, so anyone walking by could have been tempted. As it was, the story has a happy ending. Had the message on my phone noted "mailbox," I would have gone down to get it. Instead, I assumed there was minor glitch and waited to check until Monday.

Given all the negative reviews, I assumed I’d be returning this. In the midst of the pandemic I realized did not have a traditional thermometer. And, of course, they were sold out everywhere. So I was skeptical of this device. It is very easy to use. You do, however, need to hold it against the forehead. It’s not like the devices we see used by healthcare workers. But if you read the instructions, this device is rated within .4 degrees. So, if it reads 99 degrees Fahrenheit, that could be 98.6 or 99.4. As long as you know that, you have a reasonable approximation of your temperature. So, I’m reasonably satisfied.

My husband bought this very easy to read thermometer for me. I have cancer and with all this going on with a pandemic I am one of the vulnerable and needed a thermometer on hand for a justincase moment. Thankfully Im doing well. I told him I didn’t want one that goes in the mouth because then I would need to buy covers for it. I didn’t want another added expense. So he purchased this very easy to use Braun forehead thermometer just like the kind at my oncologist office. There is nothing difficult about this thermometer very easy to use. Great buy and at a very reasonable price. You just turn it on place on forehead wait for the long beep and there’s your temp. I highly recommend this product. Shipping was very quick as usual.

Can't tell about the accuracy, I guess it is like most digital devices that reads body functions. I can use it one minute and get a different reading the next minute. Readings seem to be within 1 or 2 degrees of each other (ie 98.3, 98.1. I do feel if I was in fever range it would show that so I have to say it is worth what I paid for it.

It does what you need, accurate and very good brand, for this and also for shaver... I know you're not asking this but we bought this one to one close friend and she recommends it all the time, we still have the model that we bought like 7 years ago and is working fine as the first day.
