Longevity is not it’s middle name
This solar skimmer worked really well for about 6 months and then one of the paddle motors started to fail intermittently. This intermittent failure went on for about 3 months and then both directional paddles froze. The skimmer did not last a year. I moved the paddles manually back and forth quite a few times and they somewhat worked again for another couple of months then I decided to contact the Ariel company to ask for replacement parts. I shouted out to the company and the answered almost a month later (a little more than 3 weeks). The associate that answered said that they do not sell replacement parts and if I was having problems I needed to send proof of purchase, name, address and the units serial number for replacement. That did not help because the warrantee (12 months) had just run out while I was trying to keep the skimmer alive. So, in short…….I do not recommend this solar skimmer due to lack of dependability/longevity. It is way too expensive to be dying before a year. If you purchased it, don’t make the mistake I made (trying to keep it alive and running) and contact product support right away. Good luck.

Not worth the high cost
I really wanted this to work as my pool is staying open later this year and I need help with the falling leaves. It seemed like a great product.Owners manual said it would be charged when you take it out of the box. Mine was not and it does not stay charged. When it is running it moves very slow and actually moves leaves out of its way. It kept getting caught in my pool skimmer which then prevented both from working. Basically I had to keep going out to check on it which defeats the whole purpose. I paid $600 including shipping for this product and it's just not worth it for me. I've contacted customer service to return it and I'm waiting for an email from them. Maybe my unit is defective I don't know. I would love for it to work so we'll see what customer service has to say about

Great Product and Customer Service!
Update to my previous review below:Although we love this product, we are now on our 4th Ariel. Our first three Ariel’s have failed. They have great customer service, but these units do not last. Each of our first three units have had an issue with the paddle wheels. I would recommend purchasing a Asurion warranty with this product. If our 4th unit fails, we will try the competitor version of this product.—————————————————We purchased the Solar Breeze Ariel pool surface cleaner in April of 2022. The cleaner worked amazingly well and we love it. This spring after 11 months of use one of the paddle wheels came loose and no longer worked. This pretty much caused Ariel to go in circles. I contacted the Solar Breeze customer service and provided them with a picture of the defective paddle wheel and copy of my receipt. Within hours I received a notification that they were sending me a new replacement. I'm very impressed with their customer service and quick response. Amazing customer service!

Ariel Really Works!
We bought Ariel about a month ago after trying another brand that was less expensive. The other brand spit out what it had sucked up whenever it backed up and did nothing for getting rid of pollen and bugs in the water. Ariel cleans our pool surface extremely well. We recently had a bunch of flying ants hatch get into our pool, I am talking hundreds of them. Ariel helped clean them all up in no time. If I would have had to hand skim the ants out I would have lost my mind. Thanks to Ariel, I didn't have to. Ariel is also wonderful for skimming out pollen and other tiny debris. Ariel is worth every penny! It saves your time and your sanity!

Worked for 4 months- now it’s a paperweight.
Purchased this thing 4 months ago. Out of the box it worked well. The sensors are a little wonky but overall it worked pretty good. Well, starting this month it started making a grinding noise with the back paddles. I took it out and made sure nothing was obstructing them. I wasn’t too worried because the unit is only 4 months old and just about every company has a one year warranty. I took it out of the pool today because neither back paddle was working. I noticed there was rust on one of the paddles( see pic). I went to the manufacturers website for help and it states you don’t have a warranty unless you register the unit within 30 days of purchase. This rust indicates a failure in the manufacturing process but now I have a $600 paperweight, I would look elsewhere if your looking for a dependable pool skimmer and a company that will at least warranty their product for at least a year no question asked.

Engineered to fail
First, this product works great….when it works. We really did like it! The attached pictures are of the non marine grade filter/screen and screws rusting out after just a couple of weeks. I searched for replacement filters, just to factor cost and found none. Their claim is drop it in your pool and walk away, partially true. It will cycle up and work until even the slightest cloud appears and then shut down. Owners manual states it will charge and store enough energy to work through the night, not hardly. I called tech support. Ironically they will answer their phone and then put you into email hell for support with their reply taking a few days. Their suggestion, charge it in standby to achieve optimal performance. I live in south Florida and let it bake in direct sunlight for an entire day with no increase in performance. If it bumps into anything it will dump its payload back into your pool, but it doesn’t do that often. And not a big deal when you’re dealing with large leaves and such. But when it’s payload is tiny insects it matters. I’m guessing this companies bean counters have done the math on active consumers vs lazy ones and figured the return to product quality ratio did not warrant a marginal profit offset. We returned it in the 11th hour for a full refund and ordered the beta 2. Will post review for that after receipt and trial run. $140.00 less and does not require you to remove the entire unit from the pool to access filter. Not that that’s really a big deal anyway, but an added convenience just the same.
