On Trial: The Case of Keli Lane and the ABC

On trial is on the mark.
This book is an important and careful contribution to an incredible case. In my opinion the trial judge and many media have the case wrong. The police got the right person.

Great read
I loved this book as it gave me all the facts that I needed in a way which was easy to understand.

Not logical
A very frustrating book. The main reason the book has so many errors of fact seems to be that the author uses some biased and/or inaccurate sources. There are also many examples of circular logic and confused reasoning. I attended quite a lot of the trial - that is my main source for the many corrections I hand-wrote onto my copy. That used up a lot of ink.Instead of an open mind, the author seems to have approached his task with a preconceived view, adapting the information so that his preconceived view is confirmed, even if he had to twist the facts slightly to do so. The one star is earned because his writing is quite convincing and persuasive, so many people with no prior knowledge of the case will like the book.

Finally, a well researched and intelligent account
After watching the ABC program on this case I was confused. While I believed that Keli Lane was guilty I did wonder if the trial was unfair, if the jury really had enough to convict her. This book soon dismissed those doubts. The author presents such a clear and engaging account, and of course as he is a solicitor and barrister he knows exactly what he is talking about. I loved it!

Compelling
This book deals with the case of Keli Lane, and her conviction for the murder of baby Tegan Lane, sensibly and realistically. Unlike the ABC series ‘Exposed’,which provoked public interest and excitement, at the expense of accuracy, this book explains the trial/appeal and its outcomes from a legal point of view with exactitude.I think he also treats the subject, Keli, with compassion. For all those who thought she was wrongfully convicted please read.

Excellent read
You explained everything so well.Highly recommend this book.Yes she did get a fair trialAnd abc didn’t do her any favours.I don’t understand why she just didn’t tell Duncan she was pregnant I am sure he would have married her.
