Exactly what I was looking for! I hooked it up and it worked right away as needed and easy to bring power to the unit. This helps tremendously and not damaging your power connection on your radio. It is a more durable and fixed way to power the radio.

This is great for the FT-818ND. Another reviewer recommended adding the 3M double sided foam pad between the adapter and the radio's back side and it works perfectly. It fights snug and there isn't any wiggle room as mentioned by other reviewers. I can easily add the power connectors and use the rear SO-239 antenna connector. I found out last week that the radio prefers to use the front BNC connector and has to constantly power a relay to use the rear antenna connector. So the FT-818ND will use a little less power if you use the BNC connector in the front versus the rear SO-239. This also eliminates any cable management problems if your using this adapter. Highly recommend this adapter it makes the power connector nice and snug with no worry of it falling out.

This is a great add on to your radio but you have to be aware that you can not use the battery charger that came with your radio if you attach this (the wall wart). You will need to get a power pole connector that is small enough to fit side by side on the Windcamp adapter. The only solution I can come up with is to further purchase the Windcamp LiIon battery pack that has a round power plug in the hatch that will fit the charger that came with the radio (the wall wart). Also, if you use this adapter in the field your going to have to figure out another power pole connector to DC power supply.

After paying $177 to repair/replace a broken power connector in my FT-818ND, I picked up one of these - fits well and a good addition for portable use. Hopefully will never need another repair.

This is a really nicely machined piece of metal that mounts on the back of my FT-817 and let's me power it with Anderson Power Pole connectors. It could only be improved with a nice ground attachment point .

easy to attach works fine

This item arrived defective. When I opened the box and removed it, I noticed a bit of heft to it. Much heavier than 3d printed ones. Doing SOTA on 14ers makes me a weight weenie. I attached it to the back of the 817, and immediately noticed that it hangs off the back, and does not fit tight to the radio. The hole that fits over the ground screw area, needs to be deeper. The real killer was that the powerpoles were not seated coorectly in the WindCamp adapter. As I tried to attach a battery, the connection was not easy, and I stopped to investigate. The positive powerpole was installed incorrectly. The crimped connector was installed in the housing wrong. It extends clear into the plastic of the housing, past the molded in spring steel. I don't know if I can fix it, or just send it back. The manufacturer goofed up! It would be easy for the manufacturer to test fit and realize this one would not work.
