Rainbow Light Advanced Enzyme System, Plant-Source Enzyme Blend, 180 Capsules (Package May Vary)

I have used this brand of enzymes for nearly 20 years but recently found a way to dramatically increase its potency. DMSO is used in veterinary medicine to allow medications to easily penetrate the skin/tissue and enter the bloodstream. I use it to allow the enzymes to quickly enter my bloodstream and remove any foreign materials such as those seen in people with Leaky Gut Syndrome. In the past I have used Systemic Oral Enzymes such as Wobenzyme N to temporarily reduce my Ulcerative Colitis-related Leaky Gut inflammation. Unfortunately Wobenzyme is relatively expensive and requires you to take it on an empty stomach and avoid eating for an hour. By using similar enzymes delivered transdermally via a DMSO-enzyme mixture the stomach is bypassed and you can eat immediately before and after. Furthermore since the enzymes reach the bloodstream quickly I often feel results within ten minutes. This week I arrived home after working all day and driving 90 minutes back home - my whole body was aching and even after taking my Prednisone/Tylenol/pain meds I felt miserable. Two hours later I still felt fugly so I applied three eyedroppers of my DMSO/enzyme solution to my right leg and after ten minutes all my pain had completely disappeared. I also use the DMSO/enzyme solution at least once a week to prevent brain fog/fatigue that is probably related to my ulcerative colitis. When it kicks in and the systemic inflammation goes away I feel 30 years younger. Making the mixture is simple. Get a clean 2 oz eyedropper bottle and fill it 3/4 full with water - you can use bottled water or tap water. Twist open a capsule of Rainbow Light Advanced Enzymes and pour half of it into the eyedropper bottle. Fill the remaining 25% of the bottle with DMSO. I use the inexpensive vet grade DMSO in the white plastic bottle available from numerous Amazon sellers or from farm supply stores. Shake the bottle for 20 seconds so the solution appears cloudy and you're done. Using the DMSO/enzyme mixture is simple as well. Shake the bottle so the liquid looks cloudy. Squeeze the eyedropper bulb so it fills to at least half of the length of the pipe then apply it to bare unbroken skin on legs or arms 3 drops at a time until the pipe is empty. Repeat twice and that's it. If the skin feels itchy apply a little water to the affected area. Let the skin dry completely before covering it with clothing. Rinse your hands in a sink with water then dry with a paper towel. I believe the DMSO/enzyme mixture may also be able to reduce some kinds of scar tissue or possibly even fatty lipomas though I do not have enough evidence to conclusively prove it. Wonder product. Worth every penny and I've tried every enzyme out there. Much better than Enzymedica, which used to be considered the reigning king of Digestive Enzymes. I take one of these with every meal, sometimes even snacks, which is sufficient for someone who needs mild digestive assistance. However if you have a GI, digestive, or motility disorder of any kind, I strongly recommend pairing this with Source Naturals DigestActiv. I know it has less reviews than Source Naturals Daily Essential Enzymes, but I find it's faster acting and better and I appreciate the natural digestive agents, which this Rainbow Light product also has. Highly recommend. Five stars. Purchase alone for less severe digestive troubles and throw in Source Naturals DigestActiv for a super-powered winning combo suitable for digestive disorders AND sensitive stomachs.

Almost 5 years later I'm revisiting this review and updating it to whit: I downgraded the rating one star due to my discovery of the ills of magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide and other injurious flow and filler ingredients used in the nutritional supplement industry. Magnesium stearate in particular irritates the stomach lining, causing "callouses" which prevent the absorption of the very supplements it infests, as well as your nutritious meals. Do a web search for "no magnesium stearate" to find supplements without the taint, but be prepared to pay a bit more as flow agents decrease production costs, hence their ill-advised use. What follows is the original product review: I've had a terrible problem with acid reflux in the past. I was eating Tums for dinner. Then I discovered the power of enzymes to almost totally alleviate the problem. When I take 2 enzyme capsules daily I don't have the problem unless I eat way too much acid-forming salsa or drink too much acidic bottled tea or soda. When my favorite brand of enzymes disappeared from the internet I turned to Advanced Enzyme System due to the wide variety of enzymes and other ingredients like turmeric at an economical price per capsule. I found that the product does the job for me as I am still heartburn-free as long as I have been taking it. I would definitely recommend this product for anyone looking for a quality enzyme formula at a very reasonable price.

I have extremely dry mouth because of radiation treatment for thyroid cancer. I basically have no saliva. This makes eating extremely difficult! I either need to sip liquid with each bite or eat soups in order to be able to swallow food. On top of this, I have developed terrible heartburn because of compromised digestion. Digestion starts in the mouth with the mixing of enzymes in saliva with food. Okay--I have used these enzymes for years and like them quite a bit. I have continued to use them with my new situation but with limited success. I dreaded each meal because of the above things when I remembered that you can open a capsule and sprinkle it directly on food. Viola!!!!! I first sprinkled on a cheeseburger and fries. OMG--it was juicy and I did not have to sip sip sip. And no heartburn after! Next meal, breakfast, I was choking down a bowl of oatmeal when I remembered this trick. Sprinkle--again, my mouth felt moist and the food was being broken down in my mouth as I ate. Okay, at lunch--a salad with rice. Sprinkle--yay! According to info I read on Wikipedia about saliva enzymes this formula has two of the four enzymes listed as being in saliva: amylase and lipase. A third, lysozyme, apparently kills bacterias and viruses that ride along into our mouths. I decided to take a grapefruit seed extract capsule at the beginning of my meal. So far so good. Then a fourth substance, haptocorrin, apparently helps with assimilation of B12. Haven't figured this one out yet. If someone could come up with a formulation with these components that could be sprinkled on food it would change the lives of so many people. The powder from the capsule has a very mild taste. Unless you are a super taster this would probably not present a problem. I am so encouraged with this discovery I cannot begin to tell you. If you know anyone who suffers like this please suggest they give these enzymes a try. It is a game changer!!'

No taste. Really helps to keep acid down. I missed it when I ran out. I take 2 oz a day. Can do 4 oz if needed.

Update: 3/28/17: I went to buy these again, and saw the price increased $10 from $26 to now $36 since my order on Jan 31, 2017. Annoying! I tried Body Ecology Assist Full Spectrum enzyme, because I read an article about it and it had higher amounts of enzymes such as 22,00 DU of Amylase vs the 3,000 for these and 80,000 HUT of Protease vs 7,500 HUT. I feel and look like my stomach is bloated again. I am going to look around before I buy these enzymes again because the price has gone up so much. This brand had the most complete set of enzymes I found to break down carbs, proteins, fats, and fiber from plant based enzymes and herbs. I take one (or two if I am doing a big carb dinner) with each meal, preferably before I start, but I may remember after I am done. Most noticeable for me is my stomach, abdomen and thighs are less swollen and I look thinner. I guess I was bloating before from inflammation and fluid retention and didn't realize it. In the first week or two, I lost a few pounds because of it, so it has made it easier to climb stairs and just feels better since I am lighter. I also feel less tired after a meal and more energy. Bought this product on recommendation, and I guess it doesn't work on everyone... made my stomach worse . I found that Nutra-life Digestive triple Action worked better for me.
