Although a bit expensive for what it is, this is a great little lamp, especially for modelers/crafters. Even with an overhead light using (2) 100w equivalent LED bulbs, my room still had dark areas around the sides, and my head would throw shadows across my work space. I was looking for a swing-arm LED lap that I could add to my desk and after viewing a number of cheaper options on Amazon, I decided to go with the Phive based on the glowing reviews. The lamp works great and has almost all of the adjustability that I need for my space. The only thing I would consider lacking is the head movement is limited to swivel and rotate. There is no up/down (pitch) control which could be a problem if you need to get the light focused in on something. However, after mounting the light to the back of my desk and not the side, it works fine for me. The mounting piece is the only other real downside, simply because of how large it is. It is able to clamp to a 3" thick desk, but on a thinner desk, especially one with a "back' like mine, you can't get it tight without warping the back. However, to solve this I flipped the mount upside down so that the clamping part fits onto the lip of the glass top on my desk without interfering with the wood "back". The mounting piece has holes on the top and bottom allowing you to flip it, however, the "lock" only exists when mounting it upright. If you put the second o-ring (included but was not installed on my unit) onto the shaft of the light fixture, it sits in the mounting piece very tightly and does not need the locking piece at all. Hopefully, my included pictures make this more clear. A great light overall, very bright and only slightly blue-er than daylight. A tad expensive, but well built.

I've been using this light for several days now, and the experience is very good so far. What I've asked for my desk lamp is space-saving, adjustable and doesn't get in the way (of both other things and my eyes). This lamp does this quite well. A clamp means that you don't need a base to sit on the desk, which would usually take around 10cm x 10cm of space. And the arms are long, so you can put this way above your head, and the brightness doesn't decrease too much at the desk surface. The arms are of good quality. You can't expect it to be super firm, meaning that if you wiggle them on purpose, it still shakes a little bit. But the arms are quite sturdy and seem like they can stay reliable for a long time as long as you don't try to give them a stress test on purpose. The arms can be adjusted in a broad range, but I'm not requiring this feature very much yet. I'm not an architect. ("Then why do you buy this anyway?" lol). Although this lamp does come with a tunable brightness feature, I don't find that very useful though. I'm always at the brightest stage. What might be useful is changing the color temperature, but this lamp doesn't have that feature. Just a little con though. This mostly won't affect daily use. I'm just starting to construct a personal working desk in my new place. While dreaming about setting up a desk top PC, getting dual monitors, a fancy keyboard, and all that stuff, this lamp was actually the first step I took. Something I'm always worried about when buying anything from Amazon, though, is durability. Just hope that this lamp would survive for one year or even more. If it reaches three or even five years (and witness me get my Ph.D.), I think I would finally give six stars to this 60 dollars I've spent.

The lamp seems well made and looks sleek. My computer desk is a 3-foot wide door propped on legs. The lamp clips to the back edge and reaches over my computer monitor or beside it and can be quickly and effortlessly be aimed almost anywhere. Light can be bounced off the ceiling, directed at the copy stand beside my computer or at the keyboard on a shelf that slide from beneath the door. Having LEDs built in instead of adding bulbs makes the light slim and light and much easier to position than any light I've ever owned. My only wish would be a switch to change to warm light. The light is VERY WHITE.

The only reason I took away 1 star is because this is my 2nd purchase of the same Phive light, as my 1st one was defective. I ordered this for my sewing desk, & the 1st one I ordered was beautifully bright, but would flicker something awful!!! It flickered so badly that it almost looked like a strobe light! Knowing that this lamp had some great reviews, I gave it another try, hoping it was a fluke. Turned out that it was just that, & I couldn't be happier with the replacement I received!!! Super bright, smooth, white lighting in which the month that I've had it, it's never once flickered or even come close! And I can have it on for many hours straight, & it will still be cool to touch. I do a ton of sewing & alterations daily & need my desk area to be well lit with very bright lighting in order for my work to look professional. Since my desk is in the corner of the room, it barely gets touched by the overhead light. I previously had 2 desk lamps on my 1 desk that still weren't bright enough or even as bright or cover as much space as this one does when both were on at the same time! And the 2 I had were brand name lamps that were not cheap! Not to mention the amount of desk space that was lost by having 2 lamps on my 1 small desk! This light takes up almost no space at all! And it is high enough to clear my serger and coverstitch machine's thread rails when they are at their full height. This light can also be ridiculously bright- which is what I needed! And though I never really turn the brightness down, I like the fact that I can if I want to & it's very easy & smooth to do so. It moves & turns easily when I need to change the direction of the light. But even that is rare for me to do as it covers such a large range of space as it is. I also have my ironing board directly behind my chair, and this one lamp covers both my desk & ironing board area sufficiently! And I really need my board well lit also as I sometimes need to be accurate when ironing tiny spaces for sewing. I love that it only takes one light tap on top(which is very easy to reach) to turn it on and off, so I don't have to fidget trying to feel down the wire to get to the light switch. I believe the price of this lamp was extremely reasonable for the brightness, ease of use, space saving ability & sharp look that you get for it!!! I highly recommend this to anyone needing a very high quality desk lamp! And if for some reason you do get a defective one as I did...don't give up! The return was extremely easy, fast, & I didn't have to pay extra for shipping because of the defect. It was well worth it!!! Hope this helps!

I came home from work today with a package that was sent to me that contained TWO pieces of the clamping system for this light. They were beautifully wrapped and tucked in a small cloth bag. Original 3/5 review: I've had this lamp for about 5 months. It's a great lamp, however it is not perfect. Pros: - It gets really bright. On it's highest setting, I feel like it emits photons with an electromagnetic radiation on the spectrum of the sun itself. - It's easily adjustable. - It's easy to install and move around if need be. Cons: - The clamping system is beginning to bend out of shape, as if the incredible hulk himself clamped it to my desk (my desk is 0.5" thin). - I guess the tightening screw on the clamping system is just getting lazy, because it is now angled once clamped to my desk, no matter how many times I try to straighten it back upright. - The plastic foam padding wears down quickly, mine had nearly become 1 atom thick at this point. I like it, but if every 5-6 months I have to buy a new one or try to find a solution to the clamping system and foam padding, it's as if I were to purchase a bi-annual subscription service to two lamps a year. Not my cup of tea.

I wanted a versatile lamp which I could easily move to various locations to add lighting for various activities and I found the PHIVE CL-1 LED was the perfect addition. The PHIVE LED has an one-touch functional dimmer switch which easily allows you to change lighting intensity as needed. At my desk I set the LED to bright for reading, but it also works great at the card table in our living room which needed a bit more light, but the intensity is set down to give just enough lighting to enjoy the game. My wife liked the light so well that she asked me to purchase another for her to use while playing her piano. The PHIVE comes fully assembled with a two section electrical cord. I love this feature as it allows to leave the lamp in a set location, but detach the cord when not in use so it isn't a trip hazard. This is especially useful if you set up the lamp in the middle of a room; simply detach the cord in the middle and reconnect when needed. The dimmer switch is located on top the LED and adjusts lighting intensity simply by holding down on the switch to adjust the lighting up or down. This light is a bit pricier than some other options, but I found it is worth the price because of its ease of use, functionality, versatility and superb quality.

Despite not being an architect, I wanted a nice LED lamp for my desk when I'm working at night and liked the idea of a light that could be clamped on the edge of the desk to save some desk space. After a couple of months, I can say that this thing is quite sturdy, well-made, and exceedingly bright. The articulation is smooth and steady - the lamp doesn't move at all once set into a position. The arms themselves are nice and solid, and I don't have any worries about them snapping or otherwise failing. Please note that this is an EXTREMELY bright light. I majorly underestimated how bright this thing would be. Ultimately it's not a problem - I simply wrapped a thick piece of beige colored paper, which made the light both dimmer and warmer, but keep this in mind if you're hoping for a softer, warmer task light. If that's what you're looking for, this definitely isn't the light for you unless you're willing to make some minimal modifications as I did. If you're needing an extremely bright, white light, then this is the lamp for you. I do wish there was variable brightness with the light, but I knew that wasn't an included feature and won't hold that against the product - simply a wish-list of sorts for an improved product. Beyond that, I have absolutely no complaints about this lamp. It's served me well thus far. Overall a strong recommendation.

This architecture light is wonderful: it has a very streamlined and attractive design, a bright and warm light, and is easily adjustable. We liked it so much we bought it for all of our desks and use them on a daily basis. There is also a nice touch button off/on switch, which is a nice touch. Imagine, then, my sorrow when the light all of a sudden stopped working. I contacted Phive's customer service and they responded within 24 hours. When it was clear that something had gone wrong with the light, they immediately sent a replacement! I love the product and the company.

This is my third lamp, my two previous lamps were good quality and reasonable priced, so I ordered another, but this came with a power supply which I can not use, because it's for foreign use only. I had to purchase a power pack from Amazon UK. before I could use it. To top it all the seller almost doubled the price too.
