No, it's spring loaded. The only thing that would keep it open is the gas pump handle when filling

Have a 1988 Jeep YJ, The bolt holes line up Perfectly with the Body, The Bolts that are needed to attach it to the body are not included so make sure you save your old ones! The Spring System is quite strong and it seems very well made. Does not stay down while filling fuel but no big deal there! Perfect replacement part that is well made and fits like a glove!!
