Fisher-Price Octonauts Deep Sea Octo-Lab

This is a great toy! My almost 4 year old absolutely loves it. Do the hoses sometimes come unattached? Sure, but he can put them back on all by himself. It takes a little bit of pressure to make the items shoot/work, but nothing crazy and it is easily done by my kiddo as well as all of his little preschool friends. The sounds it makes are fun and not too loud (great plus in my book). Overall we are really pleased with this toy and while we got it on a fantastic deal from Amazon Warehouse, I would absolutely buy it again, even at full price. Little man has played with it for hours everyday for weeks now.

So I've purchased most of the Octonauts toys for my son and I have to say this is one of his and my favorites. It's simple but highly enjoyable with the rest of the toys. Once the undersea lab is set up you turn the center switch to activate the three different air blown objects. The volcano explodes and my son has Barnacles or Shellington in the Gup-A come in to help. The Octolab is better than the Octopod as it is more interactive. If your child loves Octonauts this is the toy to get.

I had to say I like this because my grandson loves it. He is a huge Octonaut fan so this toy was perfect for him. I notice some reviews say the little air pump items don't work, but maybe they did not notice you have a dial in the middle of this and the pump only works on one thing at a time. All of our little things worked great. The volcano erupted splendidly and we had to fish the fake rocks out from under the couch. The kelp cake hops out just fine. The little projectile does not go far, which is ok because you don't want anyone to get hit with it anyway. The lab is hard for a little kid to fold up. My three-and-a-half-year-old grandson needed some help with this part. But it all stores inside. This brightly-colored toy takes three AAA batteries in order to have the Octo-Alert and Captain Barnacle's voice heard. They also power the flashing lights. This item came in a plain box, without the manufacturer's packaging, but all of the pieces were there. The set includes an Octonaut figure of Shellington and also a clear plastic jellyfish sea creature. Why if falls short of five stars is that there are some very small pieces that could be a choking hazard. The volcano rocks look like airhead candy and the little plastic "kelp cake" is small enough to swallow. They need to address this because a lot of kids have smaller siblings to which these things could pose a danger. Otherwise, we love this because the Octonauts are not only fun and cute, they teach kids about the deep sea.

We've given this as a gift twice, to youngsters around 4 or 5, and it's been an undisputed hit each time. Watch while the other gifts that were opened get swept aside and all attention is devoted on this toy. Really kind of surprising. The other nice thing about it is that it tends to remain one of the most affordable Octonaut toys, even when all the others get ludicrous price hikes due to popularity.

The pump doesn't really work. My husband ended up taking the whole thing apart and we let Mr. play with the pump attached directly to the toys... he got it for the 'gup a' on the side of the box (we actually purchased in a store) and had we known that's what he wanted, we wouldn't have gotten it. Wish I'd seen the reviews ahead of time. BUT Mr LOVES his "deep sea diving shellington" and does play with it a little. He prefers the water-toy gups for sure. Don't waste your money on any of the "pump action" toys.

Both of my sons were so excited to add this Deep Sea Octo-Lab to their collection after seeing the Deep Sea and Mariana Trench episodes. They have the entire Octonauts line and love to recreate scenes from the episodes on TV. All of the Octonaut toys are well made and allow for plenty of imaginative play.

My 3 year old is OBSESSED with Octonauts and has the Gup A, Gup B, Gup C, Gup E, both versions of the Gup D, Gup O, Gup X, Kwazii Octo max Suit, and Octopod Play set. All of the Gups (with the exception of the Gup X - review will be up soon) are of superior quality and play design - with that being said, of all the Octonauts toys, this is my least favorite BY FARRRRR - like beyond. 1) Quality of product: the Octolab is nowhere near as good of quality plastic has the other toys in the Octonauts line - it is a flimsy plastic that is uncoated? so it looks dull . The colors are garish and makes it look cheap. I actually had to check... ok I just checked again... to make sure it was manufactured by Fisher-Price - and still can't believe this is a Fisher-Price product! The Shellington figurine that comes with it is the WORST one of the lot. The other figurines are of exceptional quality. This Shellington comes in a suit and and it looks like his face is a little painted plate that was glued on top of the figurine. The quality is so bad, it is making me quite upset. 2) Design Review: AGAIN, for shame Fisher-price. All of the other toys in the line are so well designed for play and this one is not. (See my other rave reviews as to how well thought out this toy line is for play). I did look at the manufacturer's recommended age and it does say 3-6, so the toy is not too old for my son. There are so many little parts!! It is a hassle to pick up and keep track of all the small parts. My son will bring the play set out, but he actually doesn't play with the different features. I did bring it out again and hooked up all the hoses and attempted to play with him and it was still an epic fail. Each feature has a "nook" in the Octolab that it is supposed to fit, but it is so shallow, it doesn't hold and once you add the stiffness of the hose, making it fit in its spot is impossible. Once I got the hose hooked up, the air pressure wasn't good. There are little pegs throughout the set to stand your figurines but then my son wants to close the lab so he can see them at work inside the lab and that is not possible. I would not pay full price, but we got it for about $10 on Amazon, so in depth review aside, I'm not complaining. =P I don't like it but my son thinks he likes it so for the $13 we paid, we'd buy it again The packaging does come as you would find it in the store so, for @$13, would make great gifts for nieces and nephews who also love Octonauts!!

The item was just as advertised & was for a Christmas present. The product it's self was good, but it took a VERY long time to be delivered!

Everyday till it arrived, I got " Mom is the mailman here yet....with my surprise" So to say the least, that when it finally arrived he was over the moon. He now has all 3, octo-lab, Gup-e and octopod.... Happy Boy!! Product was perfect when it arrived, and at a great price too, considering other sellers are selling for double the price.
