Worked surprisingly well without bleach!
I used this dye over my naturally red hair. I did not expect it to cover as well as it did! My hair looked just like the picture on the box. My only gripe is that even after 3 months and an attempt of Color Oops remover and Red dye, you can still see traces of the funny, pinkish color it faded into. I'm sure how quickly it fades and completely leaves your hair depends on your hair type.

Great long lasting color.
I love this hair color by Splat. I've used it for two years now and always get compliments, even from complete strangers. It's not exactly the same purple as on the package, at least not for me unless I add a small bit of blue coloring, but it's still pretty great. Some helpful tips -Bleach your hair until all color is gone. I cannot stress this enough I made the mistake of thinking my hair was "good enough" when in fact it wasn't all around bleached and still had some light brown/blonde spots in. I ended up with a pinkish purple color and had to completely rebleach everything and start over.Leave it in for longer than the suggested time. I've always found the color turns out better and stays in your hair longer, if you keep the dye on your hair longer. Put it in a shower cap and sleep in it over night if you have to due to lack of time during the day.Put some light coating of vaseline around your hairline because chances are you WILL get dye there at some point. Especially on your ears and neck. I have found that using vaseline is the best way to ensure you'll be able to wash the dye off with ease. Otherwise you can scrub all you want, but it might take a few days to completely disappear and no one wants to have purple splotches all of them for the rest of the week.Invest in some Mr. Clean Magic Erasers if you're prone to getting dye on the floor, sink, door, wall, or any other imaginable surface. It cleans up the dye with ease and doesn't leave a stain behind.

Fine but messy
I've been dying my hair colors like this for 10 years. So when people said "don't buy splat, it's so messy!" I just assumed they just didn't keep a clean work area. I was wrong. Here are the problems I had with Lavender and also with Pink. (not with violet though)1. As you rinse out the dye, it never runs clear. Now when does it ever REALLY run clear right? No. Okay I stood in the shower for about three times longer than a normal rinse out and afterwards, still has pink dripping down my neck strong enough to stain my skin and the bath tub. So basically for the first few washes, you need to have your stained towel ready right away to sop up the drip. Also dry your hair right away or wear a black turtleneck while your hair is drying because it will stain your neck and clothes.2. Your stray hairs will dye countertops. A week after I dyed my hair, a hair fell out and was left on my bathroom sink. When I came back to the bathroom a few hours later, I noticed it there and brushed it off into the trash , and the one single hair had stained the counter top. Mind you, the hair was not wet, but the sink may have been damp. This has now occurred a few times and so there are little pink lines all over my sink. :(The bleach in this pack is good. it is not too thick which helps for coverage. If you have long hair, you will need two boxes.

Works great on dark hair!
I've tried a lot of purple hair dyes.I even spent $130 at the hair salon. The issue is, none of the other brands look purple unless I'm in sunlight. Otherwise, it just looks black.Splat changes all that. The color is beautiful and people can actually tell my hair is purple. It is SUPER bright and vibrant in the sun, which is awesome. The only down side is that it's a semi-permanent, and I have to wash my oily hair a lot, so I have to do a lot of touch-ups. They should make a permanent version of this! :D

Very Unhappy
This product is absolutely horrible in my opinion. I have naturally dark blonde hair, but because I wanted a very vibrant purple, I used the bleach anyway. In the end, I ended up with a very light pink/orangey looking color that looked absolutely horrible. I ended up having to go out and buy Ion Brilliance Purple, or whatever it's called to fix it, and now I'm finally pleased.Another problem that I had with Splat hairdye is that it will not wash off of my scalp, and because of this, my scalp is now itchy, sore, and still purple. It colored my scalp more than it did my hair.Last of all, the consistency of the dye is very difficult to use. I would not reccomend for anyone to use this dye.

I get a crazy number of compliments
I love this product, especially that it is not animal tested, but it is the least smelly and best fading hair color I've ever used. In a month it goes from dark purple to a magenta, and when I redye it, it layers the colors so that I get an always-shifting hair style.

This product came 11 days after I should have gotten it and the "bleach" had pretty much all leaked out of one of the 2 bottles...the hair dye itself had not leaked and I was able to use it and i love the color!

Perfect
I left it on my head overnight, and it came out perfect! I messed up a dye job and ended up with hot pink hair, and it covered it up completely. Definitely recommend this dye.
