Blades or operator?
First I was thrilled to find Pin blades. I have an old Clarke scroll saw that I borrowed from my MIL (it has never been used). Well I broke the original blade and none of my local stores carry scroll saw blades. These arrived pretty quick and in good condition. They are sharp but I am having trouble with these breaking. After only about 20 minutes of cutting the pins seem to break in half. I've tried lossening and tightening the tension, but it is still occuring. The blades are cutting very well, but if I can only get 20 minutes on a blade I won't be using these again. I'm really hoping it is operator error, cause that can be fixed. I will update if I learn more.UPDATE 7/11/13. I moved the rating to 5 stars as after a little more expierence I have discovered the problems lay in operator error. EVERY website I visited and every youtube vid I watched said that most beginners don't put enough tension on the blade....well not this ID10T!! Many it's a wonder the blades lasted as long as they did! I was tightening them to a HIGH A pitch!!! (after feeling initial tension I cranked the tensioner at least 6 full turns, I really only needed about 2 to 2and1/2). So the blade failure I was seeing was total operator error. Now that I'm a little easier on the blades they are lasting a lot longer (I even repaired 2 of the blades with pins from the broken blades and a little JB weld and they are holding up!) I've been having so much fun with the saw that I have very tempted to purchase a better saw. These blades are a must for anyone with a saw that only accecpts Pin blades. I will be ordering more if I can't talk my wife into a new saw.

Comment section helped
I bought these along with a cheap scroll saw but now the saw is gone and I have a new one that won't take pinned blades. Thought I was just going to have to throw them away :( ...BUT, after reading a plethora of reviews, I discovered that the pin can be popped out if you drill a hole in a board and tap the pin with a hammer! AWESOME BLADES ARE SAVED! They work great with or without pins. Just thought I'd pass on that great advice. Olson's are the only blades I use because they rarely break. Nice price, too!

Great value. They stay sharp longer than expected
Having a good selection of tooth count is ideal, why not get it in one package! These work well. Easy to install. They actually outperformed my scroll saw itself.I had a binding issue caused by me being in a rush. Typically the blades will break but not these. Oh not these at all. My entire saw broke. Well a part of my saw did. What a darn good blade! Maybe too tough.

Quality blades
They work great in my scroll saw for all sorts of cuts and last longer than cheap blades. Glad I bought them.

Good blades at a great price
I have a Ryobi scroll saw that is about 20 years old that still works very well. However it has been getting harder and harder to find any scroll saw blades, especially pin ends, locally. When you can find them they can cost $5-6 dollars for a 4 pack. At under $10 for an 18 pack these Olson blades are a great value for the money. I have found them to be just as durable and cut as well as any other brand I have used. With any blade improper tension, speed, or choice of blade for the material being cut can lead to problems including frequent breakage- this is usually operator error not a defect with the blade itself. I have cut wood of varying species and thicknesses from 1/8” to 2” as well as pvc and plexi with Olson blades and had no problems beyond expected normal wear. I will have no problem buying them again.

Great scroll saw blades!
Olson blades are always good quality at a good price. Most definitely crushed to generic blades that came with my scroll saw.

MAKE YOUR OWN STATUETTES (Review #3)

The series begins Nov 18, 2013 with Elmer's Foam Boards, 20 x 30 Inches, 1/2-Inch Thick, Black/Black, 10-Count (951300)).Wow! I cannot remember when I last bought blades. Maybe around ten years ago. Foam board cutting has its perks. Or is it my Olson blades?I do my cutting with a narrow pin-end blade, but a wider blade is fine as you practice and gain experience.A sharpened blade, or "knife blade," is essential for the job. Only with a knife blade can the sides of our statuettes be smooth. HOWEVER, knife blades are not made for scroll saws. You and I are going to have to fashion them ourselves.Blades in this packet suit the job. There are 3 different types; 18 blades in all. Each type offers you a different TPI*. Eventually you're apt to favor one or the other. For me it's a blade with a high TPI where the teeth are contiguous from end to end. Keeping or eliminating teeth is up to you. I shave mine down to a serrated edge or more.NEXT: Fashioning knife blades; helpful hints. Grizzly H6070 Belt and 5-Inch Disc Sander, 1 x 30-Inch*Teeth Per Inch
