This pump does work on the ziplock brand space saver bags. The seal does not fit over or into the seal on the bag, but if you place the two seals against each other and press down while you pump out the air, it works and works well. While it would be helpful if the pump had a secure lock onto the bag, I'm not sure that it would work as well given the cap feature of the bags themselves. With the vacuum, it is a powerful constant suction so a small gap in the seal doesn't matter... with this however I think that it may. Regardless, I was able to compress my bag quickly and efficiently with just one person. I did follow the recommendation to manually "push" as much air out of the bags as possible before using the pump. The pump is small and light weight, too, so using it for travel and/or camping (the purpose I bought it for) will be perfect! Couldn't be happier with this little product especially for the price.

Bought this almost expecting it not to work, but was pleasantly surprised. As other reviewers have mentioned, the mouth is not large enough to form a seal around the opening of ziploc space savers in the same way that a vacuum hose would, but there's enough surface space to do so still. As long as you've got it lined up well with the ring, it should work alright. TIP: before using this, open the seal, and apply pressure to multiple parts of the bag at once (sit on it, lay on it, use books, whatever). Remove as much of the excess air as possible BEFORE using the device, and it will make the process so much faster. Don't pump too quickly, as that can cause you to break whatever seal you had, and just does not seem to be as effective as medium speed pumps. If you don't feel any resistance (vs pumping in air), you don't have a good seal. Some say you have to apply a lot of pressure for this to work -- that is NOT true. I apply a small amount of pressure, but not enough to force the bag to collapse in around it. In my experience, pushing down hard to try and form a seal makes removing the air take so much longer.

This thing shouldn't work. It does. It's not as fast as a vacuum or other expensive pumps, but it does the job well, is inexpensive and is compact.

It is most definitely a pain to use but. I must say it performed admirably on my trip. It allowed me to unpack and reseal my travel bags no problem. A little elbow grease and I was good to go. Now this is a simple press to seal so you got to push hard to get it to work. Now beyond that it’s just like a backwards bicycle pump. Same action same work.

This was a "just try it" buy.. and boy was it a grand success. I had purchased a set of vacuum bags and was looking for an option to use them without lugging my vaccuum cleaner around. I found this pump on Amazon, it was cheap so thought it would be worth a shot. IT WORKS PERFECTLY. On bigger bags, it takes a little longer, but the job is effortless. I love this pump and will recommend it to anyone who wants to use vacuum bags without a vacuum cleaner. Awesome!

The pump worked fine for about two trips when i needed it to deflate clothing in bags. I am very careful caring for plastic pumps and such since they obviously are breakable. today, while using it again, a little plastic inner part broke off and it will not longer work. Very disappointed in the designed obsolesces that requires me to purchase another pump, at MY expense. There are no returns btw. buy with caution, and complain to maker and seller so they will change their REFUND POLICY.

They did not fit the space bags that they were advertised with. It was quite annoying trying to figure out how to use them, and then that they wouldnt work.

We ordered this for our upcoming trip. I was skeptical on how well this would work, as there have been some pretty poor reviews. We have the ziplock brand space bags and while this doesn't fit inside the valve, it works wonderful. You have to hold it down on the valve, but it removes the air with ease and actually got more out than our vacuum cleaner. We will be packing this in our suitcase for sure. It's worth every penny we paid and we don't have to hunt down a vacuum at our hotels now!
