Can I heat a cup in the microwave?

Yes, you can heat a cup in the microwave. This makes a concentrate to which water is added, although the taste is so smooth and clean that I prefer to drink it as a kind of cold Espresso. You can also add the concentrate to milk (without frothing), but of course don't microwave the milk as it will froth and boil over.

Can you store brewed coffee in the refrigerator in the brewer - is it airtight?

It isn’t air tight. I store mine in the container which is in the refrigerator for up to two weeks and it stays fresh.
