Be sure to take out the fake cd-rom device, as this will 'pinch' the main board and prevent you from taking the halves apart cleanly2) Use a plastic card to pop the upper and lower halves apart *while the lid is closed*. You won't succeed while the lid is open3) Unhook many cables while keeping careful track of where they go4) Eventually free the keyboard/plate from the bottom of the device5) Curse Acer as you realize you need to BREAK plastic rivets to free the keyboard from their attempt to look like a MacBook (the 'one piece metal plate'). A pair of flat-nosed pliers can 'pinch' the rivets off nicely.6) Realize why other places online are selling the entire upper plate as one part for $507) Write a review on Amazon since this information/images didn't seem to be anywhere else online8) Reassemble and pray. I was lucky.
