My float is off in my gas tank, could buying this and just reading this gauge help me know how much gas i actually have?

Yes, just install the sending unit and hook up the gauge to hot wire, ground, and run a wire to the sending unit and ground the unit.

What ohm range of this kit?

Not sure of the ohm range but put this kit in a tractor here on the farm and it worked for 3 days. I would suggest another kit

Why did sending unit melted and fell apart in gas tank in three weeks?

Something in your fuel perhaps? Maybe a additive of some sort not compatible with the sending unit. Either that or a voltage surge may have caused this. Had my unit for years now and it is still working fine.
