D’Addario Woodwinds Reed Vitalizer Humidity Control - Single Refill Pack, 72% Humidity

This is an extremely good product. The vitalizer packs keep my reeds at exactly the right moisture level for playing. I can take them right out of the reed storage case and play; there is no need for soaking the reed in my mouth for a few minutes. One caution: The packs last pretty well after being removed from their protective package and put into the reed storage case, but they must be replaced when the fluid in them hardens into large grains. The more the case is opened, the faster this happens. A very good and useful product! I will buy these packs often from now on.

Boveda doesn't offer single unit packs of their 72% size 8 two-way humidity packs. I have a Brad Behn pocket 6 reed case and the original pack got more saturated with humidity and was due to be replaced after 3 months. I bought this one from D'Addario to directly support a decades long woodwind accessories maker. I was surprised that it was just a single boveda pack. Still works great!

This is a vital product for people who play clarinet or saxophone. It prevents the reeds from drying out, making them last longer.

My son's saxophone teacher recommended this product. It does work, keeping the reeds in ready condition and without drying out and warp. Minus one star for the price as it needs to be replaced often. Still I'd recommend the reed case and the refills. Very nice products.

Purchased Rico cases for my son and daughter. They play alto sax and clarinet. We live in Arizona where the humidity can get down to as low as 2% which can dry out, warp and damage reeds. During the Monsoon season it can get really humid. We have both extremes here, but mostly low humidity. The 73% RH packet keeps the reeds in "nearly" ready to play condition. Just a few seconds in his lips and its ready to go. Currently my son is using Rico Royal reeds and my daughter uses Vandoren and Rico Select reeds. The price is comparable to local music stores, but no sales tax. If I were just buying one, I'd buy it locally because the shipping costs. The pack comes sealed in a paper-foil package like those hand wipes you sometimes get at restaurants, so you can buy several and store them until its needed. I bought the replacement pack because we would be needing it and to get free shipping (I was short a few bucks).

so long as you change the inserts regularly (replacements available online), these absolutley prolong the life of the reed! Wonderful and a great money saver too!

I am new to climate-controlled reed cases, but I have three of the Rico cases now (you can read my review if you can find it), I love the reed cases, and I keep the humidifier packs in there. One thing I notice....reeds kept in those cases never krinkle at the tips when I put them in water. Maybe that is because there is a bit of humidity in the case so they don't completely dry out. I can only assume that is what is SUPPOSED to happen :-).

I like that I was able to purchase the same product, but with more quantity.
