Favorite watercolor pencil
Amazing quality and pigmentation. Biggest bang for your buck.

Yummy
OMG. Love these. The colors are subtle. They are a pleasure to draw with. Sort of a cross between a watercolor pencil and a graphite pencil. I started out with a few singles, used them a lot, then sprang for the set.

Not what I was expecting, I really like them!
I wasn't sure about these. The reviews were so all over the place that I really wasn't sure what I was getting. I have the 24 tin of Derwent watercolor pencils which I haven't used much but when I have I've really liked them. Strangely (and maybe I wasn't using enough water) it seemed like the watercolor pencils didn't activate with water as well as these graphite ones. I used them for both of my horse pictures and used water with one but left the other dry. Very subtle I can see the different colors of black and Grey's I used on the horses eye picture. I used watercolor to frame it and got a little too crazy so that really takes away from it. The one major thing I was really surprised by was how soft these are. They're really hard to get a good sharp point on and go on so soft that it's impossible to get a thin line. I even wrote next to my messy swatch how soft I thought they were. Softer than say...crayons. Way softer. So keep that in mind. I was also surprised how much they activated and broke down with water and brush. The brown horse activated so much in it's mane that I even went back over it to add strands of hair. But since I used Morse bold lines and more lines under the face and chin and under the neck, those could have probably activated more if I had wanted them to but I left them for a bit of shading. I did use a reference from Pintrest by Tetiana Verstak. The other I didn't use a reference. Lastly, one cool thing about these which I found strange since they're so soft, the erase with a standard d to a degree that you can easily cover or fix a mistake. When you add water you only need a smalI amount and you can push the color around if it's wet enough to the point that you can erase the color completelyby pushing it out of the way. I love the more earthy colors and the kind of dirty quality to the greens, blues and the Abergine (which has a purple tint to it). Obviously I added water to the swatch I made. You can see how I pushed the Abergine to the edges with the water. These are nothing like regular graphite. That was disappointing to me until I worked with them. I really enjoy them and look forward to doing more with them along with the watercolor pencils. I may order a larger tin. But being a new artist, supplies have been sucking me dry. I hope this helps! Happy arting my friends!

Love them, but...
I bought these because I liked the idea of watercolor pencils with a graphite sheen. I've used them quite a bit and I have to say, they really don't look like they have *that* much graphite in them. When they're used wet, they have a little bit of a shine that most w/c pencils don't, when used dry, they definitely have a shiny graphite look. Great quality, as always with Derwent, they handle well and are soft and easy to work with wet or dry.The colors are beautiful though- muted greens, blues, pinks and browns. There's a pretty full color range, except for one thing: THERE'S NO YELLOW. Or even orange or gold or mustard. Which is rather limiting in terms of what you can draw. I generally use them for subjects like water or animals or occasionally a landscape, but there have been quite a few times that I wanted to use these pencils to draw, say, a jaguar and didn't because there wasn't any sort of yellow or gold tint for the fur. Derwent usually does a great job with choosing a variety of colors even in their small packs, but I've looked at the color charts for this product and there isn't any orange or yellow hue for even the bigger pack. It really bugs me. Bottom line: Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent for Art
This is well worth the price. They work ten times better than anything I’ve purchased at Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. Someone in my art class had these and raved about it. Now that I have them and gave them A try; I completely understand why. The quality is outstanding. The delivery was quick and in excellent condition.

Tinted graphite grays in watercolor pencils
These pencils offer the subdued colors that you won't find much of in the Derwent Inktense pencils. I have used them together. But these offer a soft hint of color to a graphite sketch or drawing; and you have the option to wet the marks for a watercolor effect, or leave them dry to resemble pencil marks.

I want to cry!! ♥️♥️♥️
I'm hoping to get more products from this brand. I've never been disappointed! I've gone my whole life as the poor kid with just copy paper and a school pencil which is fine and all for starters but getting quality supplies really makes a difference. That's the thing people tell you supplies don't make the artist, and what they mean here is that you need to have skills but supplies help make an artist better because there are techniques, styles, or things you cannot achieve with cheap supplies. It's very much worth the money to spend on Derwent supplies. The a a great price for the quality, the graphite is smooth, consistent, and the difference in the hardness or softness of the graphite helps speed up the drawing process more. Especially since you don't have to layer as much unlike if you're only using a number 2 pencil. They are easy to use and tons of tutorials online to show you have to use the array of darkness if you're new to art. The tin is a great storage unit for me. When I was in highschool everything got jammed into a zipper pouch which isn't healthy for supplies, having a ton is incredibly helpful. 10/10 would buy again. I really want to get the charcoal, graphitint, and the XL blocks for graphite and charcoal.

Inkyense graphite, colored pencils
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Love them, love them, love them. Easy to use fun to use on their own or with watercolor or other colored pencils.
