What is the difference between red and blue?

The base game and the 4 main white dice inside each box are the same with the exception of the color of the player boards. The difference is in the additional 4 expansion/variant dice. They have different colors, faces and rules when added to the base game. Rivers and lakes are in the blue version and lava and meteors are in the red one.

How much does this game depend on luck vs strategy? Is this game similar to Ticket to Ride?

The game uses a dice mechanic to determine what track segments are available so there is quite a bit of luck involved. There a multiple ways to score your board but the game is about how to beat play what the dice have given you. My experience has been about 50-50 with people who like ticket to ride liking this game as well. The drawing aspect makes it feel quite different even with the similar theme.
