My tool has too wide of a gap.** A: No I’m able to use both hands and start at the twelve o’clock and work the lid off slowly. Is thi correct?** A: The black part shown is the rubber grommet. It goes in the 1/2" hole drilled in the lid and you put the 3/8" stem of the airlock in the grommet. Your vendor will be happy to replace it or you can pick one up at the hardware store. 1/2"x3/8" **Q: How do you get this thing open?** A: If you have clicked it down all the way you will need to slit the skirt or pull the rip tab. To save fingers there is a tool for that B000KKPBFE, but in future check that you got a lid with a rubber seal and just lay it on the bucket. Set a brick on top to keep it down.
