good product
very thick shampoo, so don't need to use so much. It does not leave an odor in my hair. So far, this product is pretty good. It cleans, does not cause dandruff due to residue, leaves hair shiny. I don't have scalp issues, what I find is that it does not make it itch at least.

I've tried every shampoo for Eczema
I've tried pretty much every shampoo for Eczema and dry scalp. The only one that seemed to work was a particular brand of coal tar, that isn't being made anymore. My eczema is particularly bad in the summer. I searched online, and while I get the benefits of using all natural products, my experience is that they don't usually work as well as the chemical stuff (I know, horrible to say). So anyway, I decided to try it and when this stuff arrived I noticed that it said it works as an insect deterrent as well (WHAT?!). We have a camper so I packed it up and figured if it doesn't work for eczema, it can be my camp shampoo anyway... First time I used it I was having a hard time w eczema scalp (did I mention I didn't expect a lot)... First, the smell is amazing to me. I see all of the comments saying that it stinks. It smells like campfire, and I love it. It felt great, and I had to check the label to see if it was shampoo & conditioner, because that's how it felt. It wasn't, and actually I hated to use conditioner over the top of my campfire smell lol. But I did. I have thick, mangley, curly brown hair. It wasn't curly all my life and most of the time I just look like a cave lady because I don't know what to do with it. Every hairdresser straightens it, even though I tell them I'm not going to do that. I put in a little bit of coconut/Shea butter creme after using this shampoo and before I went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, my curls were soft, my eczema was already minimal (shocking!) and I didn't have to sign my hair down before going outside. So, I'm not kidding when I tell you that this stuff works. If you have course/dry hair, eczema on your scalp, or just like campfire smells... Get it. You will not regret it. As far as the insect deterrent, I can't really say if it helps because I use a conditioner over it, but if you're a dude I'd try it.

Very good shampoo
This shampoo works great on African hair between washings. My wife uses it between her cornrows and when she undoes the do, washes it repeatedly with th9s shampoo. A little bit goes a long way. It is soothing and has a very pleasant tingly feeling as it works on the scalp. Dandruff is gone in one washing. We love the smell that comes out as you wash your hair. It is piney and a little smoky, but smells great. It is NOT perfume. It is powerful shampoo that deep cleans.

I really like the smell and it seams to help with itchy scalp and flaking...
It works for the most part, jut not as aggressive or effective as the now discontinued brand I used to buy many years ago, that stuff was great, this is really good, but would have liked if it was a bit stronger. I get about 3 days to about a week of relief before I start to notice some symptoms coming back, the other brand I used to get would last a couple weeks with one or two applications, so as much as I like the scent of this, I'm going to hunt for another option. So I won't buy this again after the current bottle runs out, but If I can't find anything better I would probably come back to this brand because it works pretty well.

Best tar shampoo available.
If you need tar shampoo to improve the condition of your scalp, look no further. This stuff is the best out there. Great scent, gentle in the hair and scalp, and clearly improves my skin irritations.

Bought for itchy dog
Bought to use on our Maltese dog that had skin allergies / hot spots and itching. My dad was told years ago to use tar soap. I bought this in combination with the bar soap. It worked really well.

What am I using?!?
Am I using Packer's Pine Tar Shampoo and Conditioner, or straight up Pinsol floor cleaner? I CAN'T TELL!!! That being said, I'm basing my review on the performance on the product, and not the smell. I'm not overly fond of it, but hey, if Pinsol floor cleaner is your jam, you're gonna LOVE Packer's Pine Tar shampoo and conditioner. I've been using The Grandpa Soap Co. shampoo and conditioner for years, and I love the stuff - it works for me and my hair and it leaves it feeling clean, soft and fluffy when dry. That's my comparison. I recently ran low on the Grandpa stuff and wanted to try Packer's since I've seen a lot about them on Amazon, and I've used their pine tar soap, so I said, what the heck?, and pulled the trigger on the shampoo and conditioner. I've been using it for the last several days now and I must admit, it doesn't seem to be working as well the Grandpa stuff. My hair has a weight to it, almost as if it's greasy. A little bit of this stuff goes A LONG way, so I've scaled back on how much I use (less than a dime size for buzzed sides and and inch, to an inch and a half on the top) and I still feel the weight in my hair. I'm not sure I like how it's performing, so I'm not sure I'll stick with it. If things change, I'll update here. If I don't, that means nothing changed and I've given up on the product. Good luck to y'all! I hope you have a better experience than I do.

Lathers really well, good scent, great in hair.
This stuff lathers really nicely. If you've got hard water from your shower, I suggest this shampoo. The effects on your hair are very nice as well. I have a dry scalp usually, and this prevents that, and leaves my hair nice and silky soft. My dry scalp is gone. The scent is a kind of smoky pine, but it does not linger in your hair. When using it, the scent isn't subtle, but don't worry about smelling like pine all day (nothing wrong with that anyway).

Amazing
Amazing shampoo, pine tar has it's own benefits as per Edgar Cayce readings. I'm extremely happy with it. The only issue is that twice the bottle came squashed and leaking? And another time the bag was ripped, but I guess that's just handling, I did get a refund for the broken bottles.

Great shampoo.
Leaves your head feeling super clean. Beats any other.

Good scalp relief, leaves hair feeling nice
I was looking for a coal tar alternative and while this is not quite the same it did provide some relief. I saw other reviews saying it smelled like cigarettes and those are so wrong; there's a huge difference between cigarettes and a campfire and THIS smells like you've been sitting around a campfire all night. Once your hair is dry it's not detectable at all but I wanted to leave a review to correct this mischaracterization.

Bottle leaks
It's a great shampoo, but a bit of tape or shrink-wrap would make it even better. The bottle is plastic, and the screw-on cap has one of those "tilt to squeeze" features. Great in the shower, but not so good when Amazon delivers it in a paper or bubble-wrap envelope. The cap flap got tilted, the bottle got squeezed, and everything in the envelope came with a thin coating of shampoo. When I re-order, I'll take care to assure my shampoo is the only item in the delivery. I'd be happier if I didn't have to go to that trouble. But, it IS great shampoo.
