GREAT FOR KIDS AGE 3-6 YEARS
Intimidated by "regular"messy paint sets and "one time use" paper books using water to activate, I decided to purchase a set of these reusable spiral bound paint-with-water BOARD BOOKS that utilize water filled "pen brushes" for young ones to create beautiful pictures. To me the REAL beauty is that they are not too messy, they can be used over and over, and the activity is pretty much self-contained (the pen-brush has a it's own storage space within the book when not in use).To use, simply fill the pen-brush reservoir with water, glide it over the picture, and watch it transform into a colorful picture. The pictures dry pretty quickly (sometimes too quickly if your child takes too much time painting), however if your little painter is overzealous with the water, it can "puddle" a bit. To facilitate painting multiple pictures in the same book, we place a half sheet of paper towel over each completed picture. That way... 1) The child can fold the spiral edged page back and proceed onto the next page without worry of "mess" created by overzealous flow of water during painting 2) The paper towel helps absorb excess water and facilitate quicker drying of page 3) The enhanced drying provided by the towels helps protect integrity of board pages which have a tendency to warp slightly when damp (they do return to normal when completely dry, though). We find on average, each page requires a minimum of about 30-60 mins drying time, therefore it serves us well to have a couple of books on hand to allow extended "paint time" activity and to allow ample time for the pages to completely dry out.My 4 year old grandson looks forward to "painting" during his weekly visits to my house. We have four of these books which we rotate to avoid "boredom" due to repetition and to allow extended paint time activity as he moves from one book to the next. He enjoys both the "picture" books as well as the numbers and alphabet books. It occupies him, stimulates, educates (numbers/alphabet), makes him feel productive, and in general is a fun and novel activity for him. And of course as a busy grandma, I totally appreciate the "non-messy" (non-permanent) aspect of this creative craft.Aug 2023 UPDATE: My grandsons are now 8 and 12 years old (my, how time flies!). For years, I have reserved a shelf for them in my sewing/craft room. where they can access their own supply of books and/or craft goods while visiting. Although NOW into more "techy" play gadgets, I am amazed that during their visits they BOTH STILL gravitate to these nifty little WATER ONLY paint books! These neat and "TIDY" little books WERE and still remain a GREAT purchase.

Really is a pretty amazing set of books, keeps my kid busy for a while!
My 22 month old loves these things. Initially, we gave one to him a little early (around 18 months) and he didn't really get it, but after a number of uses, he fills in the pages like a pro.Does it work? Yes, it does! And it dries fairly quickly, so within an hour or less, the sheet is ready to be used again. However, the materials used aren't flawless -- you can see the picture in the background if you look closely, but not really the colors. It's rarely an issue for my kid -- he still needs to color it in so that he can find most things on the page. Once the pages get wet, the colors are reasonably bright. Each one comes with a brush and 4 pages to color. It's a short-term activity for kids, but the fact that you can use them again and again makes them very handy. One flaw with these I've found is that the holders for the brushes become detached or broken fairly quickly when put in the hands of a young child. It hasn't affected the usability to any great extent yet, but something to be aware of in the future. This 3-pack is definitely a good deal, compared to buying them individually, and we went ahead and got it, even though we already had one of the three included ones (we figured that we could pass it along to a friend or neighbor). My kid loves these things -- it helps that his three main interests right now are vehicles, animals, and letters/numbers, so this set pretty much had my kid figured out from the start. It teaches a kid how to hold a marker or crayon before they might be ready for that, and the brushes are just bottles with water in them, so if your kid sucks on them like mine tends to, it's probably not the worst thing in the world, although you'll need to keep an eye out for any signs of the brush coming apart (ours haven't started to, but we're always watching for it).I wish they had these when I was a kid (at least, I wasn't aware of them at the time) -- I'm sure I'd have gotten a kick out of them.

Wonderful quality
I bought these books for my 4 year old son to keep him busy on an airplane. I am happy to say that he is still playing with these books 7 months later. Each book comes with its own water pen but they are interchangeable. What I like about the books is that there is only one pen to keep track of. This makes it a very simple toy to take with you when you travel. I find that if I fill just one pen my son is able to use all 3 books in one sitting. My son's favorite book is the Animal book where it is simply for coloring. He simply takes the water pen and colors over a picture with it. The water allows the picture to show up in vibrant color. For example: if he "paints" over the fire hydrant it turns bright red, if he "paints" over a tree then the leaves turn green and the stump turns brown. The books are all reusable and the pages completely dry in about 7-8 minutes depending on how much water your child uses on the page. (My son tends to paint over pictures that are already wet so it takes longer for his pictures to dry.) The other 2 Water WOW! books help the children practice either their letters or numbers. My son is just starting to get interested in this so he rarely tries to write his letters or numbers correctly, however, he still enjoys "painting" each page. Each book has 4 pages and they are made of a thick cardboard. The edges of the book are starting to wear down with the constant water but it isn't anything that effects the use of the books. The spiral binding at the top of the book is a good quality and hasn't shown any wear even after about 7 months of heavy use.I think that these books display the quality that I expect from all of my Melissa & Doug purchases. I definitely recommend them and will be searching for additional books for my son.

LOVE for my kids of different ages
This is a great, mess free way for your kids to color. My 18 month old and my 3 year old love these. The water pens are easy to fill up and get started. Just squeeze the tube a little to get the water flowing and off you go!The colors are bright and there is a variety of fun pages with hidden pictures that the kids will find while coloring. I love that they are so easy to use for either of my kids, and they both really enjoy them. Its mess free - other than a little bit of water. The brushes are easy to use and it takes minimal water to get the colors to come through, so you don't have to soak them (of course, your kids might soak them anyway). The pages are cardboard, so I would suggest drying them a little before you put them away to prevent them from getting damaged, but they do dry pretty quickly. The books have a plastic covering that you can store the pen in. This is a great idea, especially for kids at different levels of coloring ability because the little ones can keep up with the big kids, and the big kids can look for the hidden pictures and practice their letters and colors.

Mess-Free, Engaging, and Perfect for Travel!
The Melissa & Doug On the Go Water Wow! books are a lifesaver for keeping kids entertained without the mess of traditional coloring. The water-filled pen "colors" the pages, revealing vibrant images that fade as they dry, so they can be reused again and again. My child loves watching the colors appear like magic! One of the best things about this set is how portable it is. It’s perfect for car rides, restaurants, or waiting rooms—no need to worry about crayons or markers making a mess. The spiral-bound design keeps everything together, and the pen fits neatly in the cover, making it easy to store. The only minor downside is that after a while, the pages can start to wear down, especially if they get overly wet or bent. But for the price, it’s a great value, and we’ve purchased multiple themes because my child enjoys them so much.

My kids favorite thing to do
My mom originally got our toddlers these as a gift and they were OBSESSED! So we got them a few more. These make great travel toys (easy to use in the car or on a plane) and I absolutely love that they’re reusable once they dry. My one complaint is that if your kid pushes too hard on the pages, it’ll scrape the coating off making them un-paintable. We have to constantly remind our twin boys to be more gentle with them because they’re extra rough with everything 😅

Wonderful
My child loved these on the go water activity sets.Pricing may seem a little steep but the fact that they are reusable confirms that these are great buys. The quality is good and are made to withstand the daily beating that your child can offer. No assembly is required aside from putting water in the little magic pens. Clean up is a breeze since the product usage stems from water. This is sure to provide lots of fun for your loved ones and if your little one is quick to move on to another set, this buy is perfect for you. No need to commit to just one design when you can have multiple. We have now been able to pass on these sets to my daughter’s cousin. The size of the product is small enough to dump in your handbag or carry comfortable in a diaper bag. EASY PEASY!

No mess coloring for toddlers!
I cannot express how awesome this product is for Toddlers and even the older kids love it!Each of these little books comes with 4 coloring pages made out of a thick cardboard. The brush/pen has a little pocket in the cover page that you can keep it in so you don't loose it. The little brush just fills up with water and all they do is brush the picture and it turns into a brightly colored picture. The picture dries quickly so they are able to continue coloring the same picture. My son thinks he's a great artist when he colors these. We are currently using the letter one to help my toddler learn his letters. These are so easy and convenient to use its amazing. We have taken these on a plane. I keep one in my purse for restaurants or any other time I need to keep him busy for a few minutes. As a mom to a busy and crazy toddler the NO MESS part of these little gems is the best part. My son has yet to figure out that the pen opens to put water in but if he did, guess what, it's just water which is still NO MESS! My 6 year old niece loves to spend time coloring these as well. As a matter of fact I've had to take them from a 9 year old to give to my toddler. It's a hit with lots of ages!

Mess free colouring!
My toddler recently discovered markers, and every time we use them it’s followed by having to wash our hands, and often time clean marker up off the floor. These are so simple, good quality by a reputable brand, the colours are vibrant and most importantly my 2 year old loves them! (It does specify ages 3 and up). We have brought these to a restaurant as they were easy to pack up and bring and they worked great as a distraction. This is a great gift idea for toddlers or young kids! These offered great value for the price. Very happy with my purchase!
