Fabulous sit-stand desk but has a 15 pound weight limit
This Sit-Stand Desk from Ergotron is sleek and modern looking while being extremely sturdy and well made.My husband, son and I all have chronic back issues (mine are just minor) so sitting for long periods of time can be a problem. I bought my son a sit-stand desk about a year ago and he says it changed his life. He works at a computer all day and sitting so long left him in constant pain. His doctor recommended getting up and walking/stretching every 15-30 minutes but that just wasn't practical for his work life. The sit-stand desk allows him to get up from his chair frequently without any work interruption. Because of this, my husband also expressed interest in switching to a sit-stand desk. This desk arrives packaged like Ft. Knox in a shipping box that weighs almost 50 pounds. Inside, you'll find the desktop, the center support, the base and the assembly/user's guide. There are no tools because assembly is tool-free! It took me about 20 minutes from opening the box to using the desk - and half of that time was unboxing and looking at the assembly instructions. The desk weighs about 32 pounds assembled and it's satisfyingly stable - even when extended to its highest position. The base is wide enough for excellent stability. The base and the center support are made of metal. The desktop is wood with a slightly textured, laminate coating that resists fingerprints. All edges are rounded. The height is infinitely adjustable via a lever under the desk that works much like an office chair height adjustment lever. This is completely mechanical - no motor or power cord. There is also a cord management channel that runs down the back of the center support and it works well. The desktop is bigger than it looks in the picture and is plenty large enough for an 18" laptop and mouse with room to spare. I say laptop because although ErgotronHome doesn't specify this, it has a weight limit of 15 pounds. That pretty much precludes a desktop with a monitor and a monitor arm (necessary for safety with a sit-stand desk.) This is info I think should be prominent on the product page because although I always intended this for use with a laptop, others might rightly think a desk at this price would also accommodate a desktop setup. As another reviewer mentioned, the base does not have self-leveling feet. That is something I think ErgotronHome should include in future models of this desk. In the mean time, if you have uneven floors, you will need to use something to shim it up. I've found things like this to be useful for this purpose: Best Felt Pads - 63 Pack Chair Felt Pads - Self Stick Furniture Glides - Chair Floor Protectors - Floor Scratch Protection - Felt Pads for Hardwood Floors/Laminate/Linoleum/Tile Sliders - Guarantee. The height adjustment is smooth and extremely easy to engage. It's fast becoming everyone's favorite desk as changing position frequently when working is more comfortable for anyone - with or without back issues. One thing that's missing is an indentation for holding a cup or pencil/pen holder. I hope ErgotronHome considers adding this to future iterations of this desk. In the mean time, I am ordering this: Vector Cup Holder / Vector Drink Holder - Clip-on, Clamp-on, Foldable, Portable & Adjustable Universal Cup Holders / Drink Holders (Silver Aluminum) for Travel, Airplanes, Desks, Tables & Wheelchairs and one of these for hanging my headphones Brainwavz Truss - The All Metal Under Desk Dual Headphone Hanger Stand Mount .If you are looking for a sit-stand desk for use with your laptop of for crafting or other activities that do not entail equipment weighing more than 15 pounds, this desk is a dream. It's a high quality desk. Just be aware of the weight limit.

SOLID, WELL MADE; SEVERE LIMITATION ON HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU CAN PUT ON IT; TOO SMALL; PRICEY
This is a nice looking desk, but the one I got is a little darker than what it looks like in the picture (more black than brown). Also, the picture makes it look like one end is narrower than the other. It's not; it is equal width on both ends. Easy and fast to assemble. Comes in three pieces; base, pedestal and top. Just insert the pedestal into the base and push all the way down. Then put the top on and push down until it locks in place. Genius design. It is ready to use in 10 minutes or less. Seems quite sturdy and well made, but it supposedly only holds 15 pounds, which is not much. Has a nice big easy to use lever underneath to raise or lower the desk to the exact height you want. It goes up high enough to use as a standing desk or low enough to use as a work table. It might not work quite as well as a computer desk if you are seated, as it is a couple inches too high at the lowest setting; at least for me it was. It works good as a work table, which is probably how I am going to use it, with thoughts of maybe later using it as a standing desk. The main problem with this "desk" is that it just isn't quite large enough. It would be ideal for a laptop, but you couldn't put a desktop computer plus monitor, keyboard and mouse on it; it would be crowded. Also with the weight limitation of 15 pounds, it probably is too much weight for it to hold. It works well for a monitor, keyboard, mouse and a little space on the side for paperwork that you might be typing from and not much else. Your desktop computer needs to be elsewhere on the floor below it, probably. The desk is not easy to move, as there are no wheels on it. I knocked off one star on my review for the weight limitation and the price. This is not a $500 desk. I think maybe $200-$300 would be a more appropriate price. Of course you get what you pay for and the base and pedistal are all metal and the top does appear to be solid wood and not pressboard. For the price though, locking wheels would have been nice, as well as a little larger size and ability to hold more weight. If you know the limitations of this desk, I don't think you will be disappointed at all, as it is a quality product.

High price for a small workspace (and weigh limit)
I have to agree with other reviewers that this is a fine desk, but small and overpriced. It's easy to assemble and doesn't wobble, which is obviously a big plus for a pedestal desk like this one. The feet slide pretty well across my floors (but I'll add felt pads to be safe, and would need them anyway for uneven floors). It adjusts fairly easily, although it takes a little encouragement to go down (so I suggest moving your coffee off the desk before adjusting). The cord management channel is also a nice touch.Sadly, it's just too small for much more than a laptop, and the weight limit is only 15 lbs (what if you lean on it? What if you set a heavy box on it?). The veneer also looks like any other (less expensive) desk I'd see at the big box stores, so it's not a piece of furniture to dress up the office. I also find that the sloped edges end up reducing working space, and it's a little annoying to use for drafting or drawing. I really wish it had a pull-out keyboard/mouse tray to give me more usable space. Overall, this is a decent desk if you're looking for something very compact that's adjustable, but the price seems very high for what it is.

Very Average
This adjustable height computer table is very average, and with its price tag I would expect something more. This table is steady and fairly easy to assemble, in addition it is fairly lightweight, however it is very simple and it doesn't feel as sturdy or as well-made as I expected it to be. Basically this is an average computer table, that is of medium size, with one nice feature and that is that the height is adjustable - so the user can adjust this table's height in order to sit or to stand - but that's it.
