can these be used with button type batteries? I'm wanting to solder to a button type battery with a momentary push switch

Use button batteries to drive the LED. If the battery voltage is 3V each, then at least 3 batteries in series are needed to supply the LED. These leds range in voltage from 9V to 13V, and the lower the voltage, the lower the brightness.

Would these work with a ac 110v to dc 12v led driver module, similar to what you can buy on amazon? want to wire into a lamp to illuminate a gauge

It depends on what amperage the driver produces, these LEDs without the resistors require only 2 to 3 volts amperage is around 20 milliamps, the LEDs with proper resistance take 12 volts, there are some great videos on YouTube concerning these unknowns.

What gauge wiring is attached to the LED?

The wires are 7 strands measuring 0.09mm per strand which would equate to just a bit smaller than 30 AWG, so between 30 and 32 gauge wire.
