Exceeds expections!
Kinda shocked by how well this is working. Have been using no more than 1x weekly to prevent damage plus deep conditioning with a purple mask between uses to prevent damage and brassyness. I concentrate my application to the roots as I have blonde highlights that have already grown out. My hair is noticeably lighter where I have applied the product making the appearance of dark roots much less noticeable and more natural looking. I do not have the money for professional highlighting at the moment but this provides a good bridge until I do. Will continue to monitor for damage but extremely pleased for now. I have noticed that my scalp feels dry after using and have been using a scalp serum to overcome this.

Works so good. Don’t need to dye my hair now.
I’m a natural honey blonde it can get darker in the winter. For a long time, I’ve been using straight hydrogen peroxide on my hair, sitting out in the sun, and then putting a blow dryer to it although it does lighten my hair and it doesn’t damage it it just doesn’t work as well and it can get brassy. I really like this john Frieda spray. I’ve used it probably about six times now And my hair has gotten significantly lighter. six shades lighter so I don’t have to dye my hair light blonde. It’s just lightened it so much much perfectly and has not damaged my hair. it doesn’t give me an allergic reaction like most Products do so it’s a win all the way around.

I’m thrilled by how well this works!
I’ve been using the Go Blonder Gradual Hair Lightening spray for a few years now. It adds just enough so my hair doesn’t get that drab dull blonde look. I’ve always had blonde hair but getting older it’s lost its lightness but with a few sprays about once a month it really does wonders.

too well
May work a little too well. We are blonde and the sun usually lightens our hair in the summer, but the sun doesn't really get to the underside of our hair so it tends to look like its different colors when its pulled up. We pull our hair up, and spray the sides the sun doesn't normally get and we can tell the difference once we are out in a full days sun. When we put it on the spots they sun already lightens, it just lightens it more. It does not turn our already blonde hair yellow like some products. It has also saved us money by not having to highlight our hair.

It takes awhile but IT WORKS!!
Initial review: So, I was one of those kids with "dirty blonde" or "dishwater blonde" hair and as I got older it darkened considerably. (I actually dyed it dark brown and then black for many years, but my hair has been dye-free for at least 5 years now.) I was curious to see it truly blonde again, since it had those ashy gold undertones that didn't let it fully commit to being what so many folks ABSOLUTELY INSIST is "light brown." I knew going the salon route would end up bankrupting me especially if I wanted to do any kind of highlighting/dimensional effect. So, thought I'd give this a try instead. The bottle says results should be visible between 5 and 10 uses. For me it took several months of washing my hair every 4 days and using this product at least once (but often more than that) per wash cycle before I really started to notice a difference. I've been through 4 bottles now, and it's brought out some interesting effects in my hair. The first thing I noticed was that it gave my hair a really healthy shine. I've had people ask what products I use to get it so shiny, but less questions about the color, lol. I've also noticed that my hair has some prominent red undertones - something that was masked while it was darker. At first I tried to counteract this by slathering on purple toner, but you can't purple shampoo away the red. Just embrace it if your hair is like mine. I love my hair color now. I do still wonder what it would look like with platinum highlights, but that's out of my budget for now, so this is a nice (and less harsh) alternative. Some notes about my routine: for my first use, to get things going, I mixed about half a bottle of this product with a bunch of the Go Blonder mask in a bowl, then absolutely saturated my hair with it and left it in for about an hour before shampooing and conditioning as normal. I noticed no difference. I didn't do this intensive treatment again, but I did use 2 bottles each of the Go Blonder shampoo and conditioner along with this product for the first 2 months. After that first treatment, I used as recommended, spritzing it all over my hair post-wash. If I am going out in the sun for awhile, I always try to spray some more in to get a little extra lightening effect. I have also tried a purple toner conditioning treatment which did nothing for me. Recently I tried changing my part, and that's when I really noticed the difference in color! I do spray everywhere, but my guess is that the sun hitting that top layer makes a big difference. Bottom line: it probably won't give you platinum blonde hair. But it will make your hair shiny and overall a bit lighter over time. UPDATE Nov. 2022: For fun, I recently started using the Eva NYC "Tone It Down Blonde" line of shampoo, conditioner and leave-in cream, and not only am I starting to see less red in my hair, I also think the lightening effect of the John Frieda spray is amplified. My advice, based on this: find a good toning product that works for you to use in conjunction with the spray - it can be challenging, but also try BLUE instead of PURPLE if your hair isn't super light. And be patient!! UPDATE March 2023: I've found that my hair doesn't lighten past the most recent photo on here using this product (to go lighter, I'd need to bleach it in a salon). That's ok because I like my color! I did notice that with excessive use, my hair was starting to get a bit damaged, both from this and from heat styling, so I've stopped using it EVERY time I wash my hair and only use it on the roots about once every 3 washes. I find that this refreshes the color sufficiently although it does fade a little between applications. My hair is starting to heal and that's most important for me at this time. UPDATE July 2023: I was wrong, my hair continues to lighten! I am SHOCKED when I look back at pics of myself before I started using this and even more shocked that I had the audacity to call that blonde, lmao. I've been using about 10-15 sprays of this stuff on my hair after washing it most times (occasionally I give it a break) and doing purple shampoo and conditioner about once every 4 washes, and my hair keeps getting lighter and lighter. I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair color. People I haven't seen in awhile assume I go to a salon for these results. Somehow it looks natural and dimensional, more like highlights than overall bleach. I absolutely love it.

Definitely Lightens A Few Shades
This spray works great. I’m naturally a dark blonde and I like it just a little lighter. This sparks great doing that and this new version has a much more pleasant scent. I spray it on before a long walk in the sun or if you want a quick boost spray and then use a hair dryer to warm it up.

Terrible bottle design
Probably the worst bottle design/lack of instructions I have ever seen. Very close to sending it back. Hope the product is better than the bottle. Will buy sunburn next time simply because the bottle works!

This product helps lighten your hair, but it keeps it looking natural and well-cared-for.
If you have light hair and want to maintain your color without dyeing it, this product is amazing at helping to maintain and brighten your hair, while keeping it looking natural and well-cared-for.

One bottle is empty
The product is good, I order it the second time. Unfortunately, this time one of the bottles wasn’t closed properly, some liquid was in the plastic bag, some evaporated. I am going to return it.
