Back of license plate has cable holder the metal rust and breaks. So I had to replaced license plate holder. This cable has a date of May 2024 so brand new. The cables are stiff the old one could be broken down so the part are the same. The outside door handle cable has to be pulled down. The electronic lock has a rybolt so replaced with screw. The inside door handle has a cage like over the nut. Pliers work just turn the cage to unscrew the nut. (Picture) Overall not too difficult a little confusing. Once license plate holder is removed then you can reach up into the door. The cables work great and are brand new. I would definitely replace the whole cable then trying to fix it.

This cost me just a few dollars more than just the replacement cable ends. If you have a Ford truck or van you may know the drama when the door latch cables suddenly give up the ghost. Our passenger van rear doors stopped working two days ago. With all our Christmas presents in the back. And a Volkswagen engine. :) I had to crawl through the van, remove the door panels, unbolt the license plate box, then crawl back through and work outside the van to pop the latch. I ordered the replacement ends then this popped up. On a whim I grabbed it too. Lemme tell ya. It came today. Racing a rainstorm I again had to pop the back doors through the license plate box lol. But that took longer than replacing this whole assembly. I found this to be sturdy and had literally every part I needed to swap quickly and efficiently. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this. Having swapped just the replacement ends before, I’m pretty sure my turnaround time was about identical or perhaps even faster with this. And now I know the whole assembly is new. Boom.

Bought this for my 2003 E350 Super Duty and I have to say it fit just the was it was supposed to. Compared to the OEM mechanism that came out it didn't seem to be cheap or inadequate in comparison. All of the pieces and the screw holes lined up just the way they were supposed to. My ONLY critique is that the manual rod for locking and unlocking on the old unit was about two inches longer than the one that came on this unit so if you think that will bother you be sure to swap the rods out before installing the new mechanism. Only time will tell if the cables hold up but for now I am very pleased that this worked for my E350 Van.

No instructions. I had an idea how to install from doing a rear door mechanism earlier. Take pics of the old one inside the door. I did wind up having to swap the inside door latch end because the mounting bolts were totally wrong size. It's kind of a puzzle, take pics! Excellent value for the price.
