Customized a wire crate with a Kuranda bed and our dog couldn't be happier.
Have two Almond-colored beds, which have lasted 10-12+ years with indoor/outdoor use. They are still going strong, even with some hairline cracks in the corners. (Hey, after 10-12 years, we all get a few hairline cracks. lol) So when shopping for more dog beds, knew these are worth the extra money. Much cheaper than buying junky beds every year or two. Shelters, rescues, and dog care centers like these beds. You know they aren't going to waste their money on something that will fall apart quickly. For people that just want the facts: * Great beds. * Dog love 'em. * Easy to clean. * Chew proof. * Walnut color is a nice upgrade to the standard Almond PVC. Who knew PVC could look this classy? * They also make a short-legged version for crates. Great idea! For people wanting more details about the bed: * The Walnut PVC has more of a furniture look and looks nice in the house. Walnut has a subtle, gold shimmery undertone. We picked the Khaki (Gold) Cordura fabric and it's a great match. * Our original Almond beds have the Vinyl weave, which is an open, rougher weave. (Still nice and comfy.) Cordura is a much tighter, smoother fabric. (Think of nice luggage.) * Read other reviews for assembly tips, but a bed will take about a half-hour to assemble. We bought two and the larger one was harder to assemble. It's that last corner that gets you. The rest of the assembly is very easy. Popping in the legs is super easy. For people interested about combining a Kuranda with a wire crate: * Bought the Small Kuranda Bed (20" X 30") and combined it with a wire crate for a great "bedroom" set. * Paired it with a Midwest Life Stages Folding Metal Dog Crate, Double Door, 30" X 21" X 24", Model #1630DD, also available on Amazon. A Small Kuranda bed fit inside JUST perfectly. About 1/4" to 1/2" wiggle room from bed to crate sides. * This Midwest crate is a bit taller than others, allowing for bed height while keeping a reasonable amount of headroom. About the usual amount of crate headroom now. * To insert the bed, you'll want to sneak the back panel past the wire clips to fold OUT. (Normally the panel folds IN for packing.) You may need someone with strong hands, or a get a washcloth and some pliers to gently ease the panel out. (Washcloth is to protect the wire.) Then pop the bed into the crate and reverse the process. It's not that difficult, but in hindsight, the three-door crate with a top door might have been nice. Especially if you want to travel with this setup. * Bed legs will rest on top of the crate pan edges, but the pan seems pretty sturdy and the weight is distributed. Don't expect any issues. * The crate pan still slides out for cleaning, even with the Kuranda bed inside. * Kuranda doesn't have their Crate Bed version listed on Amazon (yet anyway), however, contact Kuranda before placing your order and they will make arrangements to get you the shorter legs. We were able to buy through Amazon and use our Amazon Prime shipping. The Kuranda folks are great to deal with. * With the Crate Bed version you get both the shorter legs and the taller legs. This gives you the option to change out leg height later, if you want. Our 25 lb. dog is loving this new setup, especially with the warmer weather. Now he gets air circulation under and around him, keeping him cool and comfy. The bed is just the right length for him to fully stretch out. He's noticeably happier with his new bedroom. Also added these items to his new nest: * Midwest Quiet Time Deluxe Micro Terry Bed, Taupe (40630-TP, Medium) * Midwest Quiet Time Crate Cover, 30" X 19" X 21" (CVR-30). Through will hold off on the cover till it gets cooler.

Best dog bed yet. (6 Month Update)
This review is only a bit premature. I've only had the bed for 1 day. I will update after 6 months and 1 year. (I said 1 month but I honestly forgot) So far it's the best dog bet yet. It was super easy to put together and the instructions were very clear. I have two miniature doxies, Casey and Bebo. Casey is 6 and has pretty bad arthritis in his hips from a fall he had as a puppy where he broke both legs at the growth plates. He hobbles and isn't ever really comfortable without meds. I had taken to letting him sleep with me because sleeping on the floor made him stiff and it hurt to get up after laying for so long. As soon as I got the bed put together and showed them that it was theirs they jumped on (I helped Casey, that kid doesn't jump) and laid down. They then stayed there until they wanted to go outside, and upon re-entering they laid right back down. When Casey stood up to go outside, he didn't cry out like he normally does. Instead he got up and stepped off without pain. We will end up getting shorter legs or cutting these in half. They are about 6 inches long and Casey's legs are only 4 inches. He can't get up without help. Other than that, so far so good! UPDATE/// We put Casey down in June (he had a slipped disc and was paralyzed) and were given another puppy the same month. We now have Bebo and Bonnie. Both dogs love the bed and lay on it constantly. We did not cut the legs in half because I put a step in front of the bed that the dogs use. The fabric doesn't sag at all. The dogs jump on the bed from far away and I swear they think it is a trampoline. We took the bed to my mom's house and her rottweiler jumped on and claimed it. She ended up buying the same size for her dog and no sagging there either. We got the Cordura fabric and it truly is tough as nails. It is waterproof fabric so any liquid that gets on the bed doesn't leak onto my floor before I can grab a towel. I usually wash it off in the shower and set it outside in the sun once a week. The dogs love laying on it when it is outside. We will never own another kind of bed.

Best Bed Ever For A Dog With Pica
I've always had Coolaroo beds for my cats - they lasted about 8 years until I go my dog. He was 8 weeks old when I adopted him but at the age of 1 year, he started serious chewing - completely destroyed the fabric on the Coolaroos (bought several replacement covers from Amazon - all eaten). He has extreme Pica so he doesn't only chew non-edible, like the beds, he also tends to ingest what he chews. These beds were recommended to me by the shelter where I adopted my dog because they know better than I do as far as handling this situation. My dog is only 20 lbs but I bought the large for him and our three cats (they call fit on the bed at one time). HERE'S MY ONE & IMPORTANT COMPLAINT - the instructions, while easy to follow, left out an important step. The "written part" is left out but they have a little photo which most of us won't notice. After you slip the support rods into the fabric, you slide each side into the rounded railings. There's a top part that covers the joint of each corner then an underside joint part for the bed's legs. The instructions tell you to put on the top joint then the bottom, put in the two required bolts and "by hand" put a nut on the end of each both and tighten. WHAT THEY LEFT OUT - you can put the nut on by hand but in no way can you tighten this by hand! You must use one hand to hold a wrench or pliers to firmly grasp the nut and hold it perfectly still then use the other hand to screw the BOLT into the nut! Unless you have very strong hands, you should use an electric screw driver as I eventually had to do. The photo for this part - you have to take a VERY close look and you can see the man's hand holding a very small flat wrench on the bed's underside. That is something you can easily miss because his palm practically hides the whole flat wrench! They should ALSO TELL YOU to put all of the joints on before completely tightening or you WILL have a problem with the last corner. Had I known about this it would've taken me less than the two hours I spent putting this together! In the end, I put together a beautiful bed but it cost my hands dearly . . . swollen palms, sprained wrists, several small cuts on my fingers and a hairline fracture of my left ring finger . . . all of this happened to me - a woman who's so handy that her husband bought her power tools for Christmas a few years ago. Despite this important missing step in the instructions, I'd still recommend this bed to anyone with a "Pica" dog. I'll also be buying a second, smaller bed for the cats to have as their own only this time, I'll know what to do – ignore the instructions!

Well built, long lasting product
These beds are simply wonderful. They're basically indistructable, easy to clean/disinfect, and the dogs love them. These are the only beds we use at the shelter where I work, so when my pittie needed a new bed, this was a natural choice. She can shred the most heavy duty dog beds out there in a matter of minutes, but has not been able to do any damage to this bed. I've only had her bed for a few weeks, but I can speak to the longevity of the beds from using them at the shelter. By hose beds take serious abuse- dogs with separation anxiety try to destroy them, 100 pound dogs take running jumps onto them and slam them into walls, and the beds get sprayed down with disinfectants and bleach daily. The shelter uses the heavy duty vinyl beds and despite all they go through, they're still fine years later. Occasionally a corner will get cracked or too heavily chewed and then it's a simple, inexpensive fix to replace the part. The bed I own is cordura, as my dog has sensitive skin and needs a more breathable base. So far it's been just as easy to clean as the vinyl ones. The beds are also not difficult to put together. I may be biased since I've assembled a ton of them, but the instructions are clear and it's only a few simple pieces to put together. Overall, these beds are a larger investment upfront, but work out to be less expensive in the long run because of the quality and longevity.

The fabric is tougher to keep clean.
I thought these were going to be vinyl and easier to clean, but they're actually fabric. At leaat they seem sturdy though.

Still standing! Have not chewed yet!
I have two Australian Shepherds that destroy EVERYTHING. They even chew each other’s collars off and the only toy that stands up to their wrath is kongs. I have previously tried big “chew proof” strong nylon beds (destroyed, green fluff everywhere) and another cot bed (chewed right through the middle because the edges did not tuck into the sides like this one). I LOVE THIS BED!! I can finally give my destructive dogs a cot to sleep on off the floor. Have had for a few months now and still not a scratch or chew mark! I’m so happy I can finally give them something nice to make them more comfortable! I bought a Large bed for starters to test the “chew proof-ness”, and both of my 40-45# Australian Shepherds lay on it together with just enough room, but not too crowded. I have this bed out in our “dog house” that is basically the porch attached to the house that leads outside so they can go in and out. We live in Minnesota and have had an especially cold winter this year. The porch we have is not heated but is insulated and keeps the dogs out of the elements, the cot is in there so I would say it’s withstood cold weather conditions. I actually got the plastic over the metal because the metal would get super cold obviously. Was very easy to put together and is very sturdy PVC and the great design where there is no edge of the fabrics top so there is no corner for the dog to start chewing at. I am buying more for inside too! Definitely recommend for unmerciful chewers!

Durable has survived since 2023!
The only dog bed my dachshund hasn’t been able to destroy. She chewed through everything else. Even beds claiming to be chew proof or indestructible were torn apart in minutes. Ones that looked the Kuranda with open corners were destroyed, too. This one has lasted since Feb 2023! You won’t regret this purchase. You’ll only wish you had found this bed sooner!

5 years old and still going strong
We bought this for our puppy's crate as she was destroying blankets and beds in there. We felt bad just having her on the floor of the crate, so splurged on the Kuranda bed. Best purchase. She did try chewing the top of the post but couldn't do much damage. it lasted through her chewing phase and she used it in her crate all the time (once all house trained we just left the door to her crate open all the time). It was vomited on multiple time (allergies) and was easy to clean and dried pretty quickly. It has been relegated to the basement area where it still see regular naps from the cat. It is nice and easy to vacuum the hair off and was one of our best dog related purchases. I will note that one of the screws went in odd and I couldn't remove it to straighten it, so its' always been a bit off on that one, didn't affect use. Can't recommend this bed enough.

Sturdy
What's to dislike ? Well made , sturdy and above the ground . We also bought the synthetic fleece covering which we use during the cold months.

Great value, sturdy solid beds
Ordered 3 of the XXl for my Saint Bernards and Newfoundland dog. Very easy to assemble , sturdy and so far they have not wrecked them! Past purchased of some beds were ruined in a few days . Would recommend for the giant breeds.

Un bel investissement pour la santé de ses amours poilus
Merveilleux, à beaucoup aidé mon chien avec sa blessure au ligament croisé! Elle l'aime tellement qu'elle empêche les chats de la maison de s'y coucher!
