Introduction to Sociology

At a second time.
I am writing this to you as a result of the lessons I read. The chapters were long and it repeated itself. The lesson in the front will go into further information later in the book.

Sociology Shifts
Sociology is a very diverse and integrated social studies topic, but also involves science and psychology at the same time. Learning about the human brain and of the natural occurrence that take place in ones life can mean a difference to how they live and treat others later in life.

Repetitive, not concise, nothing but common sense and statistics.
Had to rent this horrible textbook for my Sociology Class. I'm so happy I'm no longer taking it.The text book is very redundant and often repeats itself. YES IT GET IT, MARX's CLASS CONFLICT IS A BIG THING but WHY IN THE WORLD does it REPEAT ITSELF SO MUCH. The first two chapters, it's fine to talk about class conflict but to see it over and over again just drags out the content. Seriously this textbook could be so much shorter. It's not just me but it's also my class mates and even some of the amazon reviews, alot of people agree with this. Oh and don't get me started with the redundancy of functionalism repeating itself. I actually had to use another sociology textbook from another friend, and that book was so much more concise. Nothing but dragged out statistics and redundancy to make the text-book longer to make it seem more "content-filled." Blech...I got an A in the class but I hated it and I loathe' this book with a passion. Most of the content is literally common sense, making me question the "value" of learning sociology...I respect the field but this textbook was awful.

This book made me understand sociology better than any other textbooks. It was easy read and this book was the reason why the class was fun.

Chapters on Point
I am using this book for my Sociology class and I have to say the format of this book is reader friendly. The layout of each chapter is on point!

While the information sounds very much correct, I have found some assumptions which make the text difficult to swallow, particularly those assuming all humans act the same and those assuming only humans can react to experiments (this cannot be proven with current technology). As I read I just find more and more assumptions which are not necessarily correct and my opinion of the book continues to spiral downward. Concerning sociology specifically, the text appears quite knowledgeable, and despite the large blocks of text (I'd prefer this to be broken down by more tables and graphs) it is quite easy to read and understand.

It goes along well with the class. Definitely helpful to be able to rent this instead of buy it since I'm only taking sociology because it is required at my school.

Customer Service Great, Book not so much
The book in it itself is okay. Gives ALOT of examples, but is not the greatest in the world. A lot of useless words. Alot of fluff good questions to ponder upon but the answers are not always directly in the book which I think beats the purpose of the book with questions. Amazon did an awesome job in getting the book for me on time and I was very satisfied with its conditions. Don't buy it unless you really need it. Not worth keeping to reread.
