This is the 3rd Braun digital alarm clock that I have bought. The previous ones were the squared ones (5cm and then 7.5cm), so I decided to buy this bigger one for my wife, as she liked the Casio that she had showing the room temperature.Same as the other Braun that I have, this one is the best alarm clock that I have owned so far. You can set the alarm time in the dark, as the screen will light up when doing so. And the switches/buttons in the back are easy to reach even without looking them, so setting the alarm time or changing some setting is a breeze. And the time advances/goes back very quickly (especially after a few seconds), so you don't was so much time on this.The alarm on/off long switch at the back is very easy to reach, and the snooze/light touch button at the top is very responsive.And when the alarm starts sounding, the screen lights up a couple of seconds before, so if you are already awake you can turn-off the alarm even before it starts beeping, so you do not wake up someone else around. And the sound starts increasing by steps.Finally, the design is very modern and simple, so it looks quite good in the night table.So, I totally recommend this product.

This is a great personal alarm clock for occasionally seeing the time, and it is high quality. It is well designed. The arrangement of the buttons and switches is logical and convenient and quiet. I prefer AA batteries instead of AAA, and it is a plus that this alarm clock uses AA batteries. It is also great how the weight is distributed on it so it's difficult for it to tip over.However, if you are looking for a general clock to easily and quickly see the time, then it's not as great as it can be due to how dim the display is. Depending on the viewing angle, it can be difficult to see. It will appear as a black display with faint text and you have to tap it to momentarily turn on the backlight on it. The image in the photos here for the product is misleading in how bright it is with the backlight off.It works really great as an alarm clock as you just need to see the time on it only to set it and when necessary and you can quickly tap it to momentarily turn on the backlight. So, if you just need to see what's on the display occasionally then it's great. However, for it to function as a more general all-around clock where you want to see the time anytime throughout the day, then it would be nice if this product had better viewing angles and a brightness adjust.

I was skeptical of reviews about the display being dim; well...now I believe it. First the good, the design and build quality is superb, upholds the brand expectation on that but the user experience falls short. Having to register your product before you can access instructions is a fail! Biggest fail of all is the backlight. Sure, you can see it when it's fully on but once it defaults back down to "normal" you can barely see it. You can see it at night if you're two feet away but beyond that, forget it. It's definitely not viewable during the day. And no, there's no way to adjust it to be brighter. Dieter Rams will be very disappointed. Have always been a big Braun fan, not anymore.

Simple design, simple operation, and a well thought out product that delivers care-free performance and ownership. I've used and owned quite a few Amazon-purchased alarm clocks and finally went back to Braun after too many bad experiences with Chinese junk. What a relief to rid my life of another knock-off and finally get back to buying a quality design. This clock has just enough light to read the time and yet not too much to disturb your sleep. The temperature reads correctly and the date is displayed in military/Euro fashion. What's not to like about a great product that performs? Highly recommend this clock.

This is a nice, accurate and low battery use clock. Because back light goes in stand by state after few seconds. The screen might be little dark for some in day when its light is off but not hard to read the numbers in night. I think it's bright enough after sun set or night when the room is darker.
