I’ll be honest—I don’t really know anything about singing bowls. I know people use them for meditation, but I mostly bought this because I was curious to see how my baby would react to the sound. He finds it pretty fascinating when he’s already calm. It definitely isn’t some magic tool that stops him from crying, although obviously that isn’t what it was designed for. The bowl is much smaller than I expected, but it feels like a quality product. Both the bowl and the little wooden striker seem well made, and nothing about it feels cheap. It’s also extremely portable—you could almost fit the whole thing in your pocket, although I’m not sure where anyone is taking a singing bowl. The only part that takes some practice is balancing the bowl on the little cushion while playing it. Because everything is so small, it can move around or slip off if you aren’t careful. Overall, though, I really like it. It’s a simple, cool little thing to have around.

These singing bowls are made with good care. They play well and sound beautiful. I have three from different places, and this one is the best.

i really like it it has good sound and feels nice and i like that it’s a small business and homemade, just the mallet gives some resistance when i’m making the bowl sing so i might need to order a different mallet

I bought this bowl as a mutual gift for our 5th wedding anniversary. My husband and I are always toying around with the ones we see in New Age/Buddhist shops but always stop short of actually buying one—mainly because of the cost. This bowl seemed like a good, relatively inexpensive starter bowl and after looking at the reviews and the little video posted here, I decided to order one. What a great gift it turned out to be! My husband loves it and so do I! (Hattie is benignly tolerant, if mildly amused by all the extra noise in the house; but then she's a cat and cats have already attained Buddhahood, so she just yawns, blinks her eyes, and goes back to sleep). What neither of us realized is that you just don't hit the bowl against the side like a gong. You can, of course. But an even cooler way to play it is by running the wooden thing along the outside rim. You can produce the most incredible, otherworldly sound by doing this—you kind of expect the beam of light from the alien mothership to come down through the ceiling at any moment! It's really fantastic. The video that they send you by email shows you how to play the bowl like this, even how to hold the wooden thing (like a pencil). They say it takes a little practice but both my husband and I got the hang of it within ten minutes. In the meantime, you can just strike it like a gong if you want. If you follow the sound until it disappears, you really do find that you become relaxed and that it's virtually impossible to think about anything else (the laundry you have to do, the bills you have to pay, all those tiresome years wasted trying to live up to the expectations of others, etc). The customer service is terrific. No kidding—they seem like they really *do* care whether you're satisfied with the product, not just romancing you, and give the impression that if you weren't satisfied they'd bend over backwards to do whatever they could to make you satisfied. In my case, I was very satisfied, so they didn't have to do any bending at all. Anyway, I'd very much recommend this bowl to anyone who wants to give singing bowls a try. Just take a look at the rest of the reviews. I'm clearly not the only one who was very happy to have bought one.

Wow! What a beautiful singing bowl set! I am SO HAPPY! The bowl is so unique as it is hammered, which is the original way of making the singing bowls. Each bowl has a very unique one of a kind look to it. Each bowl will be different, as they are all handmade. The pillow (which was found wrapped up inside of the bowl, if you don't see it right away) is so very beautiful and it is very well made and with nice material. The pillow is nice for displaying your bowl and for putting your bowl on the pillow as you play it it; or you can play the bowl in the palm of your hand, just making sure that your palm is flat and do not let your fingers touch around the bowl as it will mute and distort the sound. The mallet is made of nice and very sturdy wood, it has the the felted end for the "tapping" of the top edge of the bowl (felted as to not harm the bowl when tapping) and the other end is a wider continuation of the wood (for going around the he rim to make the bowl sing). It is a nice size as it fits nicely in the palm of the hand. It has such a beautiful, harmonious and enticing sound quality and it really works. When I am using the bowl, without the pillow, I can feel the vibrations from the bowl. When I am using the bowl, I use the "tapping" to get others attention, to signal a start, or a change of session and an end to a session. I use the "singing" of the bowl for mindfulness, meditation and harmonious vibrational energy. This would also be a great purchase for yoga, meditation, self awareness time and more. I am so very happy with my purchase. I highly reccomend this bowl!! I look forward to using it for many, many years to come! Silent mind also has a great customer service as they sent me an email first and foremost making sure that I knew my bowl was on the way. I then received another email making sure that I did in fact receive my bowl and making sure that I was happy with my purchase. They are concerned on making you happy, I really liked that and made me feel special. In the email they sent me it included an attachment with information on how to use the bowl, how to take care of the bowl, the many uses for it, the intentions behind it , the history behind the bowl, gives you tips on uses and much more. I really appreciated their customer service and me not feeling like I am just another "sell" for them. I am SO very happy with my purchase. The quality of the bowl is outstanding. The intensity of sound is a bit too soft though. No, I don't hold the bowl, it's just resting on the cushion provided and the cushion rest on my palm. Probably due to the small size of the bowl. I love it anyway.
