Confused: 2 sides to 2 belts; brown leather rough & smooth, Black "leather" appears to be vinyl with canvas back. Which of each do i use in order

Both sides all leather you could use either side I only collect I got a collection of Shaving knives and the leather strap goes along with it but my friend is a barber he got me started collecting he loves his strap

If you mean- does this package include a razor; the answer is NO. If you mean - does this strop sharpen straight razors; the answer is DEFINITELY YES!!!

Which side do you use first brown or black?

The purpose of the strop is to re align the edge to keep the sharpness,I use the black (rough) side first. Be careful not to nick the strop. Then use the fine grain brown side for a good finish. I do 20-30 laps on each side.
