Cuisinart Food Processor 14-Cup Vegetable Chopper for Mincing, Dicing, Shredding, Puree & Kneading Dough, White, DFP-14BCWNY

I make my own cat food. I was making it with a 3.5 cup KitchenAid processor, but the most I could manage in a reasonable time frame with that was about 4 days' worth. I decided to upgrade to the Cuisinart. This thing can puree a cup of rice, a sweet potato, and 18 scrambled eggs in a minute or two. I could probably do it in less time if I would feed the ingredients in slowly, but I load it all up. This gives me over a week worth of cat food, and that makes me happy. There are some other pros and cons that I have noticed: PROS Heavy base. That is a pro because that means that a heavy duty motor is hiding inside that case, and that it's going to be processing food without breaking a sweat for a long time. Powerful motor. It just chugs confidently through several pounds of chicken thighs, a dozen-and-a-half scrambled eggs, rice, sweet potato, etc. Very sharp blade. If you wash by hand, you'll be wanting to use the heavy-duty rubber gloves with this blade. Easy to wash. While there are a lot of pieces to the cup and feeder assembly (not a pro), they do come apart and wash easily. I'm more inclined to wash by hand than put these items in the dishwasher, simply because I believe it's gentler on the materials to hand wash. CONS Fairly large footprint if you want to leave it on the counter. If you're like me, you probably will want to leave it on the counter, considering the weight. As I mentioned previously, lots of parts in the cup and feeder assembly. The blade *fits* into the bowl, but doesn't really *snap* in. This makes it a little awkward when you're weighing ingredients in, if you have the blade in so that you don't squash ingredients down by inserting it, when you go to put it all onto the base, it pushes the blade up and the ingredients get underneath anyway. Awkward. Summary As I said my title, the Cuisinart is an animal. It makes short easy work of many types of food processing, while seeming to expend very little effort in the process. What it does, it does so very well that the Cons that I listed don't really detract from operation, they are simply minor inconveniences.

I read a lot of reviews before buy that said that it's not what it used to be. I can't speak to what previous generations were like, but this baby shreds. Whole head of cabbage for slaw: Shredded. Poof. Seconds. Cucumbers: shredded. Carrots: Grated. IN. SECONDS. Want to make some fluffy buscuits. Dry ingredients, butter.... pulse, pulse. 30 secs. Done. It's real horsepower for the kitchen that I didn't know I needed. Downsides as I see them: Cleaning is not fun. The top has a lot of nooks and crannies that foodstuffs can get into. The lid has 3 pieces, 2 of which need to be present for machine to operator (and keep your fingers out to be fair). You're going to be cleaning a lot. A lot of people have mentioned discoloration but I've yet to see that ~4 months in. I'll update if needed. Speaking of the lid. It takes a while to get used to getting everything aligned so the machine operates. Springs on the lid are pretty stiff out of the box and feel like they take a bit of oomph to lock into place. Minor annoyance. Theres a lot of accessories. I recommend buying a disk or blade storage system or you'll have stuff everywhere and it is SHARP.

We had our previous Cuisinart, the smaller 11 cup version, for over 35 years and the plastic was starting to fail in ways that made it less safe. But the motor was as strong as always so we were confident that the motor in this one would be up to the task. This new one is bigger, better, and safer to use in all ways. And the accessory slicing and dicing blades have a very novel way of clipping on to the shaft to rotate. My only complaint is that The top feed tube has to be assembled on to the processor for the motor to turn on. That’s a good safety feature, but it limits the size of vegetables or fruits that can be fed through tube. All that being said, this is the best food processor I’ve ever used.

I bought this food processor last year but didn't put it to use right away. I mainly bought it to make sauces and different butters, but this product comes with enough accessories to experiment all year, not to mention it being one of the highest capacity food processor on the market. I'm really glad I bought this now that I've seen what it can do, and I'm surprised how easy it is to clean up and get every last drop of your favorite sauces, creams, and purees. The size of the actual product after assembly is not as big as I expected, which makes it a lot more tempting to just leave assembled next to the other kitchen appliances instead of storing it every time after each use. I think cleanup was the only expected hassle when I was still considering buying it, but I was happy to see that it was dishwasher safe, even though I tend to hand wash everything anyways. I've definitely had a lot of fun so far with this product and it is a great addition to any kitchen arsenal, even if you've never used a food processor in your life.

I have to say that I researched food processors for a long time before buying this product. I had one before this that was too small. We use our food processor every day. This one works well and is fairly easy to operate. I've tried using some of the discs to slice and shred, but I'm not usually happy with that. Food does get stuck in the chute. But on the other hand, I might be someone who needs to use a good knife and get the pieces exactly the way I want them. The motor seems to be powerful enough for what I use it for. I don't make dough in it. The base is nice and heavy and stays in place when using it. It's dependable. My biggest complaint is about cleaning it. It's a bear to clean. My previous processor was worse, but this isn't much better. The mechanisms for the latch are in a transparent plastic chute and food gets stuck in there all the time. The handle of the bowl is open and food somehow gets stuck in there. I really hate the plastic bowl assembly. It scratches as soon as you start using it and you can't scrub it without scratching it. It never looks clean. I really wish we could go back to glass bowls and blenders. I don't know why they stopped using them. I love glass. You can clean and clean and clean it and it looks like new. And we are all trying to get away from plastics. What makes me mad is how much it costs to replace the plastic bowl and it's assembly parts. Wow! I would have replaced this twice by now if it wasn't so expensive. It gets to the point that you think, might as well get a new one as to buy the replacement bowl twice. So, it's anti- social to have this pricing policy. It encourages a throw away society and all that brings with it. So as an industry, I wish they would a. figure a way to use glass for the bowl and b. reduce the cost of replacement parts to encourage people to keep using their products longer. Sure, it would require them to stop trying to encourage people to buy more often and they'd have to structure their businesses differently and not make enough money to build and fund corporate 'empires', but in the end it would make a difference in the world and be better for all of us, including the company owners and employees.

You can tell an attorney was involved in the design process... once the safety rod in the plunger was “modified” this became a truly useful tool. From the factory you can only put about 3.5” tall items in hole since the safety mechanism in the plunger has to be touching the lid/bowl. What??? Now we can process an 18” zucchini in one shot. Otherwise you have to cut it into six “sections” that are short enough to allow the safety to work🙄. If you have to cut up your food before you can put it in the machine that you bought to cut up your food...you see what I’m saying. Anyway, three stars to them for making it. Two stars to me for making it useful. The safety is an aluminum rod. It needs to be cut off and then inserted into the receiver in the lid/base. I mushroomed the end of mine so it wouldn’t slip down into the handle. Now it’s awesome. Just don’t shove your arm down the hole while it’s running. Your brain = the best safety feature in the world.

My 25 year old Cuisinart 12 cup finally wore out. I purchased an off brand machine on sale. It was worthless. It couldn't chop or puree evenly. It was lightweight and underpowered. I returned it and ordered a larger Cuisinart. The new 14 cup Cuisinart food processor is very similar to the last one, slightly larger but always gives excellent results. There is a reason it is a bit more pricey, it is made well and works well.

We have ordered the Cuisinart food processor to replace a Kitchenaid processor we bought 8 months ago to replace our 15 year old food processor made by Kitchenaid. Let me tell you, all recent Kitchenaid food processor are flimsy, under-powered and hard to clean products. This Cuisinart is food processor is just like our old Kitchenaid. It is heavy, yeah, powerful and SIMPLE to operate. It comes with one blade and two disk. That is it and that is all we need. Why bother with countless disks and attachments you never use that require complex adjustments of flimsy plastic. Not useful. This food processor is simple, elegantly retro, solid and powerful So glad we bought it. If you look for a food processor built like they used to be built 15 years ago this is the one. Other recent Cuisinart models are not as good as this old model so trust this old design. I think it will last us another 15 years. The motor is also super quiet with a satisfying humming when it run.

I wasn't expecting any miracles but I am so impressed just the same. I made bread dough and didn't knead it at all after 1 1/2 minutes of mixing. After washing up the processor by hand and drying it I was done in less time than it takes me to make bread by hand and washing one bowl and spoon. The bread turned out great but I am going to knead it for a while next time to see if it improves the texture any. Chopping or pureeing veggies plus washing the processor is still faster than doing everything by hand. So yeh. This is a nice machine to have. My mobility is limited so the less I have to stand the less pain I am in. I would have bought one years ago when my mobility was normal if the price wasn't equal to a plain-no-bells-and-whistles kitchen stove. With my present physical condition it is more of a life-aid now than a fancy appliance.
