Luka Modric: Official Autobiography

This was something I bought my son to encourage him to read more since he loves soccer. It has some great photos in it as well.

I picked this book up after '22's FIFA World Cup. I recalled how hard I rooted for Croatia to win back in 2018, and realized I wanted to learn a little bit more about Luka and his journey into and in football. What struck me when reading the book is that he didn't shy away from the upsets and victories he felt as progressed in his career and his personal life. You can tell, by how he details his emotions, he remembers every detail of the day such an event happen to the T. Not only that, he is an incredibly humble person. Most of the quotes I had highlighted from him (to me), serve as reminders to bear in mind, entering 2023. Call it coincidence or destiny, I'm glad I started my 2023's reading journey with his autobiog.

A well written autobiography. I liked the style of writing which reminded me of André Pirlo's I Think Therefore I Play (another wonderfully written football autobiography). In this book, Modrić talks about his journey as a football player (obviously 🤣), the struggles he faced (he doesn't shy away from talking about them). But he also goes on to clear the air about certain falsehoods regarding his struggles such us his dad having used wood to make shins for him (as he could not afford to buy him new ones). He goes on to talk about his transfer from Dinamo to Tottenham and his time at Spurs. He mentions a failed move from Spurs to Chelsea. He then goes at length to talk about what went on prior to his move to Real from Spurs. Drama! In the book he talks about his experiences in the Croatian national team and gives analysis of the various international tournaments and qualifiers he took part in. He goes to great detail to talk about the 2018 FIFA World Cup and gives details about the preparation for the different matches the team faced. I found the book enjoyable to read. A great player he is.

I couldn’t put this book down and had goosebumps reading it at several different points. Luka does an excellent job of putting the reader in his eyes for all the important moments of his career, and its enthralling for anybody that loves European futbol.

This is one of the first books I have ever ordered and just wanted to thank RAREWAVES-IMPORTS for their fantastic service and price. This book was not available in my own country so I had to order it and it arrived in perfect condition even though I ordered the paper back edition and not the hard cover. It also arrived within the estimated/expected dates so I do really appreciate that as delays are very common due to the pandemic. Highly recommended !

Luka takes you through every stage of his life and talks in detail about the big personal and professional events that shaped his career and made him the legend that he is. The book also has a surprise album section with rare photos.

Delivery was fast and the book is well packaged. I enjoyed the book very much! Recommend!
