Everything I ever wanted in a book
Greek mythology but compassionate for the people wronged in the myths, adventure, found family, plot twists that didn’t just feel like the author trying to pull one over on us as readers but actually made sense (while still being surprising!) and best of all, a really REALLY good WLW romance. NO homophobia, no awkward coming out, literally just the romance. So so so good. I would give it more stars if possible.

I really like this author and have purchased all of her novels
I really like this author and have purchased all of her novels. This one novel, I had to force myself to finish. Still, the bulk of her writing is awesome.

I Laughed and Worried, and Did Both at the Same Time
This is my favorite book of BAW's.I was laughing so quickly, I bought the book without finishing the sample and I have no regrets. Funny, thoughtful, and an absolute adventure with romance, this book was everything I wanted and more. Also, you can really feel BAW's love for mythology. Genuine love and understanding, rather than a modern-media take on it.

A wild romp through the land of the dead!
I truly enjoyed this book. I went into it being neither knowledgeable about mythology nor particularly interested in the romance genre, but neither of those slowed me down a bit.I quickly came to care about the characters and was immersed in their complexity. Wright conjured a rich and vibrant land of the dead which I very nearly described as "living and breathing," but there is the obvious contradiction. It's a fast read that never gets boring. Highly recommended to anyone who likes the fantasy genre in the least.

Turning Traditional Mythology on its Head
Great read, really witty feminist revisioning of the Underworld. If you ever thought, "I bet that hero's a total jerk," or thought that Medusa was really a badass, this book's for you. Felt like reading a grown-up version of Percy Jackson, with a flirty, snarky edge. Fun!

The Gods are dead! Long Live the Goddess!
One heck of a fine fantasy. Mythology, that is so clearly and imaginatively written I was fully immersed almost from the very start. Dealing with one of my favorite 'what if' questions. Did the gods create mankind through will and word, or did mankind create the gods through belief? The only lack to me was June, for being so pivotal, she felt as more a prop than a fully fleshed character.

An excellent read
As the title says, an excellent read! The author really knows her mythology well and weaves a fabulous myth arc!

Love it!
This is a fresh, interesting take on Greek mythology. It was a fast paced and fun, and it was nice to see Medusa in a good light for a change!

A Hoot
This was a hoot. I was a bit insecticide about reading it because I've got a background in Classical archaeology and didn't want to pick holes. However, right from the start it was clear the tone of the book was going to be pretty much tongue in cheek so I rolled with it. I enjoyed the snark and the imagining of the Underworld. It was easy to picture. The action sequences managed to be exciting and somewhat humorous at the same time, which added to the feel of this being like riding a roller coaster. If you don't know anything about Greek myths and legends, don't worry, anything important to the story is explained. If you do know something about it, prepare to meet what the personalities behind those myths and legends have become in the modern world. This was a fun read, different to what I expected, but in a good way. I laughed out loud, I cringed at some of the crazy antics, I sat on the edge of my seat, and yes, I even cried a little. Highly recommend.
