This is an excellent little product. It will interface your PC to different types of HD drives and allow you to work on them. I bought it mainly to check my discarded drives for content before I disposed of them and it worked with IDA and SATA drives seamlessly. Someone below noted the power connector was not long enough for their drive: SATA drives do not need the power connector, it is delivered through the interface. All round, nicely made, USB 3.0 cable and separate power adapter included, worth every penny and worthwhile having around for occasional use in the future.

Pretty useful gadget to access all those old hard drives you've been keeping from old, long-gone PC's and laptops. Can be used with both SATA and IDE drives and will even fire up an old DVD player if you happen to have hung on to one. Only found one drive it couldn't handle as the power supply was on the opposite side to standard and the power cable was too short to reach it. Incredibly easy to use and works straight out of the box so you can put all those old drives to good use rather than just gathering dust. Obviously will not resurrect any faulty and jammed drives but does exactly what it says on the tin.

If like me you have a bunch of old hard drives hanging around then this is perfect for checking them out, copying them or reformatting them. its dead easy to use just plug it in, connect your HDD, connect the gizmo to a spare USB port, switch it on and your PC will recognise it. I'm pretty sure its compatible with any PC or laptop that has a USB interface. It also takes SD cards and Micro SD cards This has saved me loads of time and I reckon its excellent value for money. Its made of plastic but feels pretty solid.It does not require any installation software and is quite literally plug n play. Does require a mains outlet for the supplied adaptor. Absolutely brilliant.

Absolutely brilliant. Had an old machine which had water damage & the MB was goosed. Used this to securely recover the drives & transfer to a portable drive. It was compatible with multiple drive types & I was able to recover the data fast & with ease. It’s small enough to keep with all my other computer gadgets.

Ordered this adapter to recover date from 5 older 3.5" drives. 4 of them IDE and 1 SATA 150 drive. Had no issues with the IDE drives (just make sure the master/slave jumpers on the drive are properly configured). But couldn't get the adapter to to work with the SATA drive (the drive starts rotating, but it is not recognised by the PC). I eventually managed to access that drive with another USB to SATA cable, borrowing the power supply of this adapter, so at least I know the drive is OK. As a conclusion, had mixed results with this adapter but managed to get done what I intended to, albeit with the help of an extra cable.

Permet de relire de très vieilles archives en IDE, même sous Macos 26. Connexion très facile et fonctionne aussitôt. Il faut toutefois disposer d'un logiciel sur Mac pour lire le format NTFS qui n'est plus supporté par les Mac récents. Heureusement 'Fuse' ou Microsoft 'NTFS for Mac' font cette adaptation. Juste une information pour éviter à d'autres de perdre du temps : les voyants s'allument des que l'USB est branché, même si on a oublié de brancher l’alimentation...Donc, ne pas l'oublier même si ça s'allume !

Estamos ante un adaptador que a diferencia de otros que he comprado tiene la característica que no apaga los discos duros o dispositivos de almacenamiento tras un periodo de inactividad. Esto para mí es fundamental ya que no me hace gracia que un disco duro se encienda automáticamente si había estado previamente en modo suspensión. Prefiero dejar un disco duro encendido totalmente y yo mismo poderlo apagar completamente en el momento de desconectarlo del adaptador. Otra característica que me parece importante es que dispone de un cable USB lo suficientemente largo como para no tener dificultades a la hora de conectar el adaptador al portátil. Lo único que me faltaría sería probar sería ponerle un disco duro en formato IDE algo que no me preocupa ya que cumple de sobras con los discos con conexión SATA.
