外観はアルミフレームをはじめ質感高く仕上がっています。 Daytonは型番が100であってもユニット全体の直径が100であって、他社の80口と同程度なので、例えばNFJさんの小さい方の自作ボックスに収まることが出来てしまいます。そうしたことから、スピーカー単体の能力ではフィールドを形成するほどのパワーはありません。これ一発なら、後方排気バスレフでニアフィールドという使い方に向いていると思います。 このユニットは他のリファレンスシリーズとは異なり、アルミに代わってペーパーにファイバーを混入させたコーンを使って中低音の表現力を高めていて、割とツィーターを選びませんので、組むのは易しいです。返して言えば、小音量では平べったい音になりがちで、大音量ではストロークが音圧にならず腰砕け気味になるので、スイートスポットとなる音量の幅を見つけるまでが一手間かかる気難しさがあります。3ウェイのスコーカーとして組み上げるのがこのユニット本来なのかなと思います。
