Absolutely Fantastic Product
I initially ordered one of these for a relative who entertains a lot, and thought it would come in handy for them. I then later thought about it, and realized this *might* be handy for me/my family too. So...of course, I had to order one. I really had minimal expectations for this product. I knew it obviously cooked pizzas and possibly other little frozen items. I had no idea that I would literally use it all the time. Every day. I have 2 kids who love pizza and enjoy snacks like mozzarella sticks, fish sticks, and other frozen food items that you might typically throw in an oven when you are crunched for time. These are obvious items that can be used easily on this product, and it certainly delivers. It is incredibly simple to use. You plug it in, throw whatever you want to cook on it, and set the timer. You don't waste time preheating. There is no heat adjustment, but it cooks it perfectly. It rotates while cooking, and my kids get a kick out of watching it cook right in front of them. It cooks pizza (even the cheapie junk ones) into perfection. I have made countless homemade pizzas and it makes them perfect every time. Reheating your pizza on it refreshes it to its former glory. Once the timer is done, it stops heating the product (but simply keeps rotating), so you don't burn your food if you get distracted for a minute or 2. What I was not counting on is all the other items we would end up cooking on it. I enjoy making homemade cookies and cinnamon rolls from scratch with my kids, and (so long as they are not large or rise too tall) we are able to cook those with ease, too. I am a vegetarian (mostly vegan), and I can cook my veggie patties and other veggie products on it, and they don't come out soggy like they do sometimes in a microwave. You can add things to your food while it is cooking, and you can see for yourself whether it is done or not (or burnt). Leftovers from a restaurant reheat perfectly on it, too. No more nuking food with a microwave. The cons to this product: You have to watch to make sure you aren't cooking something too tall or close to the heating element (think dough that rises up too high, etc). When I make cookies, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, or anything doughy on it, I make them small or squash them down a little so they don't rise too high. Another con is that if you have a super large pizza, this won't accommodate it. The circular pan thingy it cooks on will cook a standard large pizza (like standard frozen pizza size), but no larger. That said, the product would probably take up too much space if it were any bigger, which leads me to my next con...yes, it is a little bulky if you do not have space for it. While you can certainly burn yourself on it, as with anything, you have to use a little common sense and keep it out of reach from little hands. That said, it is not as drastic of heat and the risk of harming yourself should you touch it is MUCH less than if you were messing with an oven. I have used this product every day (unless we are out of town) for about 15 months straight, and with minimal care, I can't recall a time that I burned myself, and I rarely have to wear oven mitts since I can just grab a spatula and get it off easily onto a plate straight from the pan. My kids have never burned themselves on it either. I always supervise them if they want to add something on whatever we are cooking (which they love to participate in), and they know to be careful. I always worry with an oven, but with a little caution, I really don't worry much with this item. I can touch my finger quickly on the pan while it is rotating and not hurt myself (as long as I pull my finger off right away). Could I do that with an oven and not hurt myself? Uh, no. Cleaning it is a breeze, too. Overall, we love it so much that our microwave hardly ever gets used and our oven is reserved for larger items, like casseroles and other larger home-cooked items. I would recommend this for anyone and everyone, and not just for the pizza lover. It is not expensive, and I would imagine this would be a great gift for the average college student.

not as fast for multiple fresh dough pizzas, but excellent quality results
i have made home-dough pizza in my oven at 500 degrees (nearly the highest most home ovens will go, and higher is best for achieving that amazing crust) on a professional quality stone (fibrament), or on the grill. i make my own breads and doughs, and consider myself somewhat of a gourmet (in what i like to eat- not necessarily the result of what i cook!). So, having tried to perfect a pizza, mainly thinner crust- smattering of olive oil, coarse sea salts, one or two other perfect toppings (light)- you get the idea... i was thinking i was going to have to build a backyard pizza oven, and buy a pre-built stone insert (which i still may do). However, i read all these reviews. i figured, how can 300-plus people be way off? also, who can beat the $42 price to try? but, i was still skeptical, to say the least. well. i am very satisfied with my purchase. i have all sortsa appliances, including a very good convection toaster oven. But, i think i will probably use this funny-looking device for all my pizzas in the future, for general everyday personal/family use (baring me building the backyard oven, and getting the energy to stoke a fire --heh he). The Pizzaz must be getting my home-made pizzas near the preferred higher (they say 800 is optimal) temperatures, right at the surfaces (top and bottom being so close to the heating elements), because the result i'm getting is better than my oven, by far, and equivalent to my grill (a bit of a hassle). funny! i would not have expected it. Also, having the ability to control the top and bottom cook times really makes a difference as well. This device is fairly fast if you add in the heat prep time, for an oven or grill--if you're doing multiple pizzas, though, it's not efficient, and it will take you forever for a party- in which case, fire up your grill (fresh dough only, i'm talking here). for a single pizza, it takes me about 25-35 min from plug-in to done(bottom only 10-15 min., both remainder time, bottom some more if need be, depending on crust thickness- you need to experiment) to get my homemade dough to the right consistency, which i could replicate (and beat- both in time and texture) with other methods, but, the texture (slightly chewy, slightly crispy- keep your dough cold-rising in fridge for at least overnight) is really very good for the simplicity! also, i love the way my crust bubbles on the edges, like it should if the temperature is high enough. i know people like this device for all sorts of reasons, including the convenience and ease that i love, but if you really like a "perfect" textured pizza crust/dough, which i'm obviously willing to do quite a lot for, this is definitely worth a try. i am quite pleased with the purchase, and intend to give my other "foodie" friends gifts of these. also, frozen pre-made pizza- works great, as advertised! one more thing. i have young kids, and they had a blast watching the thing spin around. they were entertained the whole time. who knew?

Finally Something I Can Use!
**Edit March 23, 2012** I am still using this machine, in fact I just used it a few minutes ago, and it's still going strong. It thoroughly cooks pizza and I am still very, very happy I made this choice. My oven is acting a bit weird, in fact it's not cooking food all the way through. I cooked a pizza at 425 degrees for 25 minutes and the pizza was still lukewarm and after 5 minutes out of the oven it was glacial. Anyhow, after a long seperation from my machine I pulled it out today to cook a Tombstone with extra cheese dumped on top and it cooked beautifully. It's nice that almost a year later there are no issues with this machine. I say buy it, and one for everyone in the family, and enjoy! **Edit September 28, 2011** Still love this machine! Going hard and I couldn't imagine not having it. I am on my way to Walmart for a pepperoni Tombstone tonight and I can't wait to get home. Now that I am pregnant I am certain wacky foods will end up on it eventually. Can't wait! Original Review: I have been looking at this machine for years. I always wanted one and saw it in Walmart. Every time I was set to buy it the machine was out of stock and Walmart never knew when it was going to come back into stock. I patiently waited for a year or so before I gave up and just used the oven. I then came across this on amazon! I am so glad I made the splurge because it's an awesome change for my pizza's. I live in a house with three other roommates. I am not one who enjoys really socializing so this is something I have in my room, which is bigger than a dorm room, and I am ecstatic that when I come into the house and they have company (which is all the time) I do not have to sit downstairs and chit-chat after a very long day at work. I can grab a pizza, wine cooler, and head upstairs for dinner in my room. I used it for the first time last night and I have to say that set-up was a breeze and cleanup was a breeze. No cheese leaked onto the plate so there was no scrubbing involved. It took 12 minutes to cook my Tombstone but maybe would be a little longer to achieve the crust I am looking for. I would have liked a crust that was a little more crunchy, however that was operators error and I am enthusiastic to start again tonight. I highly recommend this for college students as well as people in my situation where you are not wanting to socialize with people you don't know but nonetheless are always hanging around. If you love pizza then this is for you. I will update periodically to let you know how it's going as time moves on!

Shocked
This thing is amazing. Makes pizza a whole new ball game. Had to quit my job so I would have more time to figure out just what all I could cook on this thing. I call it my quesadilla magic!

Great little gadget when used for the intended purpose.
Update: Here are a few photos of some fresh pizza made with Pillsbury Thin Crust Pizza Dough. Not as crispy as I like, but better than an oven and not bad for a first try. Also, package portion sized for two people: Frozen Tater Tots, chicken nuggets, Quorn "Chik-nuggets (Vegetarian) Now, on to the review: I was looking for a pizza maker/air fryer. They were all expensive. This little gadget kept popping up as highly rated. After a lot of thought and even discounting it after seeing one at a local store, I decided to take the plunge. I'm glad that I did. Is it perfect? No. Does it work as advertised? Yes! Use it for the advertised purpose and I doubt that you will be disappointed. It does offer a lot of control with the dual heating elements. You will need to tinker with it. Get to know it. It is just like any other cooking appliance. You have to experiment to find the right settings for your preferences. You might have a couple of failures, but don't give up. The first small pizzas that I made didn't turn out well. However, after I experimented a little more, I couldn't believe the wonderful taste.and crispiness. I expected to use the unit much less than I have. I place it on my smooth stove top. No worries about heat damage that way. The Pizzazz Plus, to my mind, is a PERFECT snack reheating gadget. It does a wonderful job. It isn't something that a "real" cook would want. It allows for adding crispiness to everything that is a precooked, frozen product: chicken nuggets, fries of all varieties, pizzas. You get the idea. You don't add much fat so I suppose some people will feel the food gets a little dried out. I think they are probably correct. It doesn't make a lot of difference. If you want a moister food, just adjust the cooking times or buy a high fat content frozen product. There are plenty of those on the market. I've been a vegetarian for over 30 years, but I live with a meat/junk food eater. I didn't think that I'd use the Pizzaz Plus much for myself. I was wrong. It makes some of the vegetarian frozen nuggets, burgers, and other mock meat products crisp up nicely too. I couldn't believe the difference between using it and the microwave. I find that I actually do cook a lot more frozen products than I thought that I did. The Pizzaz does have a few quibbles. That is the "why" of my four star rating. As many other reviewers have pointed out, the tray is awkward to place on the unit. I guide it on with my index finger and thumb. It isn't that bad, but it is fiddly. The other thing that you need to watch is the tray wobble. The food needs to be balanced when it is placed on the tray. I also leave the food outside of the center as the element doesn't necessarily reach there for heating (though the pizzas all seemed to cook just fine). The tray is small. I'd say that it can be used to prepare enough for a couple of people, but if you have more, you will be, as others have pointed out in their reviews, cooking in shifts. As an example, I can place the per person serving size recommended on the frozen fries package for two people. Then I can also place the per person size of chicken nuggets for one person. Finally, I can place 4-5 vegetarian nuggets. That quantity totally fills up the unit. What if you have big eaters? What if you want more than two servings? You could make 4 servings of french fries, but you'd have to cook the additional foods in another way. Not a big deal, but something to think about. Finally, the Pizzaz, as others have also pointed out, doesn't have an on-off switch. This isn't a big issue for me, but it would be nice not to have to keep plugging and unplugging it from the wall socket. Thinking safety here. Speaking of safety, be sure to use pot holders, oven mitts, or something when removing the tray. People have reported issues with cleaning the tray. I've had no issues, but I preconditioned it with a light wiping of virgin olive oil. Not sure if that took care of the reported issues, but I do tend to do that with all of my coated gadgets. I also don't cook anything that isn't recommended. I'm not much of an adventurer with new gadgets. I did try a fresh sliced zucchini. I was hoping to make crisps. That was a flop. Really, I do think this is a machine, at least in my case, that reheats previously prepared food well. Everything tastes better, but IMO, it isn't a cooker. It is a snack, precooked frozen food, sandwich, pizza, or crisper gadget. I've made cookies, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls as well as frozen pizzas and everything in the accompanying recipe book. It all came out beautifully. After I used the unit and got to know it for a while, nothing that I "cooked" was bad. I won't be giving up my crock pot, oven, or other cooking products soon, but this is a nice addition to my arsenal. It stores well in my cupboard. I did make a place for it. Some people with smaller kitchens may find storage to be an issue. On the other hand, regardless of the size of our kitchens, we gadget collectors seem to always find storage to be an issue. For some good video reviews on the Pizzazz, check out Youtube. I enjoyed watching them. The videos will give you a good idea of what to expect. There are also a few videos that show some alternative uses for the unit. HTHs.

Review for homemade pizza - I found that thinner crust with some olive oil in it did the best on this unit
I mainly make homemade, fresh pizza. I was interested in this because I was looking for something to use to keep from having to heat the oven up in the warmer months here in the south. I was happily surprised when I got this out of the box that it really has a very small footprint. Once the pan is removed, it isn't any larger than my toaster. Compared to a hot oven or grill, this cooks homemade pizza a good bit slower. Part of what makes it slow is that there's only one pan. I'll probably buy another to help speed it up since my family normally wants 4-5- pizzas every time I make them, as they eat a lot and want leftovers. At 15-20 minutes per pizza, which is about what it takes, it takes about twice as long as the oven, but that doesn't include oven warm up time, which is considerable. The issue is just between eating pizza 1 and pizza 2 getting ready, they are hungry and don't want to wait, but a 2nd pan will help. I've seen prices on those running about less than twenty dollars at this time and they have them here on Amazon. I do find it a bit awkward to put the pan on. The unit will not work until the pan is on the spindle. The controls are very straight foward. Push the timer down and turn it, and pick top, dual, or bottom elements. For homemade pizza, I use both. Once the pan is in place and the unit is on, it will start to turn very evenly and cook the pizza. The entire area over the pan gets hot, but it is the hottest right under/over the elements. The pizza cooks well, especially thinner crusts. I made some thick bread type pizzas - about an inch thick- and those were not as crispy on the bottom as I usually like, though they cooked very well and were definitely done. I let those go about 4 minutes longer than the other ones. The pan does have a bit of an edge, but I found that making my pizzas a bit smaller than the pan helps prevent any cheese drips. I did notice that the better pizzas were the ones in which I had added a bit of olive oil to the dough. They came out crispier and seemed to cook the best with this particular pizza cooker. The pan is non-stick and very easy to clean. Putting it in the dishwasher can discolor it, according to the book, but I can't see any reason to put it in the dishwasher when it is so non-stick that the food just slides off. It washes up in less than a minute in the sink. I'm giving it 5 stars, because it does what I want- it makes a good homemade pizza without heating the house up. I'll just always make my dough with olive oil, and stretch it thin for this unit.
